  I found out that my foster bun came from a breeder and I’m wondering what breed he is. Chinchilla? He is about 9 months old.

  His colour is chinchilla. He look rather like my bun TimTim.
  He doesn’t look very big. Do you have an idea of his weight?

  He’s not too big. I’d say about 3-4 lbs.

  According to this http://ascrba.com/, “bucks range in weight from 5-7lbs” so I suppose it is possible he is a Standard Chinchilla. He just doesn’t have the stocky shape I would expect but he could fill out some more yet. Chinchilla colouration is common across a range of breeds, so colour alone doesn’t always provide the best clue. Have you looked into what is bred in your area? Maybe he comes from somewhere local.

  Oh ok. I didn’t realize other breeds could have the coloration. I’ll see what breeders are here. I may be able to find out through the rescue where I got him.
