Hi! My two buns seem to be very bored. If anyone has any DIY toy ideas, anything that I make/buy/entertain my rabbits with pls share. Also I have always wondered if the salt blocks/rings you find in the stores are good or bad for rabbits. Or even if they are necessary? Thanks

Paper shreds in a laundry basket or paper bag.
My buns love metal so I find safe keychains for them to toss around.
Boxes boxes boxes. Cut holes in them so they can get in and out easily.
TP rolls or paper towel rolls.
There are many ideas in the Bunny Info section here on BB.

When I was a new bunny mom I bought nearly one of everything at the store for our bunny. He never touched the salt block. I later read they are unnecessary and never bought another.

My bun didn’t take well to most DIY toys. She is uninterested in anything cardboard. She loves to chew anything resembling plastic though…. I bought some baby toys, she really enjoyed them! Stacking cups are great, toy key rings, and plastic links that you can connect into a small chain of 2 or 3. My bun likes these because she can chuck them around the room

Usually bored bunnies will start displaying destructive behaviors, like chewing on objects and getting very exploratory, potentially getting into places they shouldn’t be. It’s possible your rabbits just aren’t interested in playing with things!

Wick does not play with anything and he’s a single rabbit, so I used to be concerned that he was bored. I’ve now realized that’s just who he is and he enjoys just being in the company of me and relaxing around.

In terms of the salt licks, it’s not necessary because pellets contain all the minerals needed.

My buns really love the oxbow Timothy carrots. They also like this DIY cardboard ball when stuffed with hay and treats.
