        Hello,

I am wanting to get two 7wk old female Holland Lops. Should I get 2 from the same litter? Or does it even matter? I’ve read that it might easier for them to bond or are bonded since they have been together since birth? We plan on getting them fixed as soon as they are old enough.

Any help would be great ☺️

Sometimes being from the same litter can help, but ultimately it’s down to personality. They’ll need to be separated before they are ready to be spayed anyway so you’ll have to re-bond from scratch 6 weeks post spay. In my opinion it doesn’t matter whether they’re from the same litter or not, they’ll either bond or they won’t.

Thanks for the help, why do thy need to be separated before spay?

Most vets won’t spay females until 6 months of age. Most rabbits start to become hormonal from 3 months of age and this can lead to fighting. So it’s best to separate from the age of 12 weeks simply to prevent the chance of fighting and serious injuries. Rabbits that are allowed to fight can also be harder to bond further down the track.
