My rabbit likes to chew pretty much anything he can get his teeth on. One of his favorite activities outside the cage is digging and chewing the carpet. The only problem with this is that I live in an apartment and will have to pay for damage. What I can I do to make him stop? I want to be able to let him out to play but not if he will be destructive.

Thats pretty normal for a bun. Ive got holes in my carpet from when my buns used to dig and chew a lot. One still digs and chews but the other two grew out of it after hitting around a year old.

How many toys do you have for him? Are they different types of toys (wood, stick, straw, cardboard, round, pokey, ect)? How often do you play with him?

My rabbit is a year old according to the shelter I received him from. I have sticks, chews, a digging box, and tunnel. I play with him when I can but I am a student and I work. Right now I am also sick

How about different types (wooden, stick, straw) of ball toys? Just to encourage him to keep moving and be active, to hopefully get his mind off of chewing on the floor. You can also try tunnels and making a second diggy box with a different material in it

If there are specific areas he likes to dig, you can try putting down heavy cerarmic tiles or other coverings I find that they generally like to dig at corners and edges. Iif these are covered and other toys are provided he may start leaving your carpet alone!

Staples and other office supply stores often sell big pieces of card board that you could put down in places that your bun likes to dig. This is what I have done and it worked well and also gave him something to chew on a bit!
