        Hey BB friends.

As some of you may recall, my first ever bun Pancakes broke his leg and took the liberty of removing his cast by himself 3 weeks later. He’s had the cast off for 2 weeks, so 5 weeks in total of being confined to the small cage while he gets better. Today we went in for our first vaccinations and check up on the leg, which is healing well. It is, however, healing slightly crooked and more turned out than the other leg. Does anyone have experience with bun legs healing a little differently?

He’s also super mad tonight, I’m not sure if it is the vaccine or just being in the cage and being completely fed up. I try every couple of days to change up the environment with new toys, different things to chew or toss around, hiding treats.. I also clean it all out every day. But tonight he is throwing himself around, trying to binky like crazy and doing a complete redecorating job with the towelling I put on the cage floor.

End goal is to make a bunny condo out of an extra large dog crate that we bought for the times we are not home, and then let him out with us the rest of the time. Vet says that as Pancakes is such an energetic little guy and the leg is healing on an angle, they want to confine him for one more week. Any tips on showing tough love would be appreciated. Poor boy is really over it!

Give him more towels to redecorate with, and things that make jingly sounds when he throws them. Unfortunately I don’t think you can make tough love look good to a bunny… it’s just one of those things you’ll/he’ll have to endure for another week. It’s good that you’v been changing out his toys. My bunnies like toys that are noisy, and boy do they love to rearrange a blanket/towel!

It’s wise to confine him for a week more imo. I like Vanessa’s tops. Fleece blankets to dig in, apple and willow twigs to chew, toys or just objects like bowls or whatever to throw around, plus lots of company (as in humans being in the same room as him) could help him feel less restless.
