Every morning for a few hours, my rabbits will jump up on my bed, sniff me out, and jump right back down. It’s quite cute and I don’t really mind except for the fact that its happening earlier and earlier, and waking me up hours before I would normally be up. Any ideas as to why they do this? Are they just playing around or trying to get my attention?

Rabbits active times are typically earlier than the normal, everyday person. I assume it’s because that’s when they want your attention most. The time shift could be due to their sleep schedule being pushed earlier or earlier. I usually try to keep Wick’s routine the same, and use the house lights to mimic the sunshine for that time of day. On days where I know I will let him out early, I try to tucker him out and get him to bed earlier so he is active when I let him out.

I noticed that while Guin was running around the house at night, her sprints through my room also happened earlier and earlier. Luckliy she doesn’t get up on my bed. I do a similar thing as Wick – I have the bunny room lights on a timer, that I adjust with the sunrise/sunset. That helps keep their routine the same. But I got the feeling that her early sprints through my room were just her getting more and more comfortable. It may be that the time shift is causing this, or that your bunny is just enjoying it more and more. So if a set routine doesn’t help, you might want to restrict the hours that they have access to your bed.
