My rabbit is currently being treated for a Pseudomonas infection. I noticed that his litter habits began to break down as his condition worsened. He was at least peeing in the litter box, but did have a few instances of peeing outside of the litter box, and even on his bed. I altered the arrangement of his crate a bit, and it seemed to fix the peeing problem. He poops everywhere, though. We are going to the vet tomorrow, so we will likely be having a urinalysis done.

He has been litter-trained for 6 years, and has always lived on my screened-in porch. He has a medium-large dog crate that he comes into at night and has access to during the day. He has always come in during the day to use the litter box. Now, it seems like he barely uses it at all anymore. When he has free-run during the day, he is peeing and pooping on the porch. When in his kennel, he is peeing in the box, but pooping wherever. It was the least of my concerns for a while, but I am planning to move him indoors soon, where he can have his own room, and I want to begin working on getting this under control.

Thanks in advance for the help!

The liter breaking is most likely due to the infection and wouldn’t worry much!
