        Hi, New to this!

I was just wandering if anyone had any info on how to bond with two rabbits? I have read that it is much easier to bond with just one rabbit as they will concentrate on only bonding with you rather than the other rabbit, but my boyfriend and I bought two brothers together (We just couldn’t leave one behind when they were so close).

We keep them in our shed but bring them in to the house for 1-2 hours a day to socialize with us and have a bit more room for play time. They seem to really enjoy it however when it comes to putting them back it is very difficult to grab them as they run away from us.

During play time they will happily approach us but won’t let us stroke them. When they are in the hutch they have no problem with us touching them and stroking their heads. Does anyone have any tips on how to get closer to them? make them trust us better? Neither of them are neutered, could this be a factor?

Also I do try to give them treats but I don’t want to over do it as I read too many treats can upset their little tummies.

        Thanks for any help!!

When I first got my one of my buns, he would NOT let me touch him at all. What I found worked best was definitely hand feeding, as well as patience. Sit down in a small room with both (so they feel a bit more comfortable) and hold out a vegetable. Each day bring it closer and closer and eventually they’ll begin to trust you. Remember, it’s best not to even attempt picking them up in the early stages of bonding with your rabbit. Some bunnies are quite shy and will take longer and others will trust you quickly.

Also, I suggest you get them neutered soon because my 2 male buns were not neutered and were the best of friends until one day their hormones got to them and they started violently attacking each other and blood was drawn. – Just to save you from that.
          Good luck!

Your rabbits definitely should be neutered, and if they are 12 weeks old or more, they should be separated until they have had their surgeries, and at least a month has passed. Once they hit puberty and are dealing with hormones, they can become aggressive and start fighting and severely injure each other.

Thank you for your advice! We are getting them neutered in a couple of weeks.
