Today is the first day of bonding sessions between Blue and Peaches.

Blue is one and a half years old male, cage free house rabbit, mixed breed, neutered. Loves humans. Very playful and cheeky.

Peaches is a two and a half year old female, she is now a house rabbit but she used to live outdoors before I adopted her. She has had two litters prior, she is now spayed and recovered. Beautiful mini lop. Lovely temperament. Loves to be fussed.

They live separately at present but they do spend time around each other on the evenings with a pen dividing the living room.

        Day One

Set up a small neutral space in the bathroom (only place they do not go in)

        Food, box etc

Introduced both rabbits into the zone

After a few moments of wondering where they were, Peaches wanted to explore the box and have a nibble on the food. Blue did not really do anything. They didn’t really bother with each other much. However Peaches went to sniff Blue a few times and every time she tried he would nip/bite her and she would run into the box then come back out again.

I wouldn’t say it was a bad first meeting,  nothing dramatic or overly negative, have to see how it goes!

          Second Interval of Day One

Blue and Peaches had another ten minute meet a few hours later.

          Blue explored more this time.

They touched noses and hopped away a few times.

Blue attempted to nip Peaches again but she stood up for herself this time and nipped back instead of running straight off.

Ignored each other most the time.

          No major issues to report!
