Alright so I got home from class, I am in a vet tech program, and went to go check on my little Bilbo. Bilbo is a 14 week Holland Lop buck. He is not neutered yet since he hasn’t /matured/ yet. He will be neutered in January though. Anyway, I opened his cage door and he had flipped his box over and thrown pellets out of his litter box, so I removed his cardboard box and put his blankets in a corner of the kennel so he could sit on those. I reached down to pick up a stray pellet and toss it in the litter box, and BAM! Bilbo lunged and bit my hand. He didn’t draw blood, but it did leave a mark and it did hurt. He has never been territorial of his cage in the month and a half I’ve had him. He is only territorial about his stuffed fox and red blanket. I did pet other rabbits today at a pet store over where my classes were. Could it be he just smelled them on me and got jealous? He normally nibbles on my jeans and hair, but he has never actually bit me up until now. Any suggestions?

Hormones are kicking in it sounds like. It could be the smells of the other rabbits from your hand, he thought you were spreading their smell on his stuff

Can’t wait to get him neutered if it’s hormones. I don’t want him to bite me again. He has also peed 2x on floor which is not like him. His neuter is a Christmas present for me since it’s $150 at cheapest from the 4 vets I’ve called that are within an hour. No one in my town does rabbit neuters :/
