I’ve had Charlie for a little over a month now. Within about a week of having him he was binkying around, and curious. He’s still curious and likes to hop around and will start hopping around like a maniac, but I feel like he is SO LAZY. I bring him outto play with me and he’ll hop around for a bit, play with some toys and then just flops down and lays around. Maybe I’m overreacting because he’s my first bunny and I always imagined them having way more energy, but I just want to make sure this isn’t abnormal.

        thanks everyone!

Aww, look at those helicopter ears! I love him!

There is a stereotype for lop bunnies. They are lazy and like to lounge a lot. LOL The stereotype seems true for my Leopold. He “excited” behavior consists of a medium speed hop around the room a few times as I get their food ready. No zoomies, no binkies. And he likes to lay around a lot. LOL

That is one cute bun!  My lop does the same thing as him, and when I got her spayed the vet did some regular checkups and said she was perfectly healthy.  And she has plenty of toys and a cat tunnel and boxes and whatnot, so it’s not boredom.  I think some buns are just lazy  And you got one adorable lil lazy bun!

My pair are really only active in the morning and the late afternoon/evening. From about 10am – 5pm they are pretty much just couch potatoes and do a whole lot of nothing. Rabbits in the wild are crepuscular (meaning they are active at dawn and dusk) and our pets tend to follow that instinctual routine as well

Yeah, that seems about right. Chester is also pretty lazy most of the time. He jumps on the couch and runs around when he thinks there might be food, and that’s it. More active early morning and late afternoon/evening, but nothing crazy generally. Even when he zooms and binkies around, it doesn’t last more than a couple minutes before he flops lazy lop!

Amelia has two speeds. She’s either running around like a wild child binkying and playing with the dog, or passed out cold

Agree with the others, rabbits are mostly calm during the day, and they will generally seek you out only when they want cuddles. Occasionally they have short bouts of hyperactivity and playfulness.
Rabbits are quite skittish by nature, so you can take that lazyness as a huge compliment: your bun feels safe and sound with you!

Both are mine are pretty lazy. Bindi, my lop is a senior, but he’s always been the stereotypical “lazy lop”. Sterling, my big boy, not sure how old he is but he’s super lazy as well. There’s a small amount of exploring and the odd binky/zoom but mostly just lounging around.

Thanks everyone! Good to know it’s a typical lop behavior! Just want to make sure he’s happy – would be much easier if they could tell us!

All your little buns are adorable! Thanks for the compliments on Charlie – I think he’s pretty cute myself (but I might be biased)

My indoor bunny Bill is also kinda lazy, until it’s feeding time or litter changing time – then he gets really excited. He mostly just lays around otherwise and plays with his toys for only a few minutes. Bill (lop bun) is a lot less active than my previous bun, Teemo (non-lop) who lived in the garden. Teemo had spent lots of his time foraging for all sorts of plants, marking territory, exploring and digging. I feel a bit bad that Bill as an indoor bun who only gets access to one room doesn’t get as much mental stimulation as buns like a large & varied area to forage for food in their free time.

Haha, great shot!! He is definitely the boss of that bed, everything on it, and everything around it! So cute.

I don’t know about lops, but I do know that my bun’s sleep cycle makes her lazier at certain times of day. As a grad student, it actually works perfectly. I get up early, and she is super happy to see me. She actually waits at the end of my bed to zip around my feet, so I always edge out carefully and get on the floor to pet her a while (helps me wake up). My fiancé, who works mostly from home, goes off and does work and she hops to her room. Sleeps most of the day, occasionally interrupting my fiancé for pets, then around 5:30pm she really wants to hang out. When I get home varies, but I always come home to a super happy binkying bunny!

Could it be that you’re waking her up unknowingly? They sleep with their eyes open so it’s hard to miss…
