I’ve been doing a lot of research to help me understand my buns behaviour but I’m left really confused. I noticed he started getting aggressive and finally understood he wasn’t getting enough exercise. Problem solved. Now I’m noticing him circling my feet and following me. I’ve read that this could mean he wants to mate? I’ve also read that he may just be excited and happy to see me or he wants to play. But how can I tell which it is?

Is he neutered? My male does it sometimes when he wants something from me, but when its accompanied by little honking noises its normally a mating thing

It depends on the context and what else he’s doing. Persistent circling in a tight circle around your feet, accompanied by nipping and/or honking would be consistent with mating behavior. Loose circles, zig-zagging, periscoping, etc. with pauses in between is generally more excitement-related. Like my bunnies will do that when they think I’m going to feed them or give them a treat. Hopefully that helps.

If it is “I love you” type circling, then neutering him should solve the problem. That is, if he isn’t already neutered.

He’s not neutered. I haven’t heard any noises but he poops like crazy when he does it.

My 10 month old literally got it on with my boyfriend’s forearm! all of a sudden, he got really assertive (he wasn’t being scary or aggressive). I was really surprised because it was the first time he was like this and just assumed he was finally getting used to us as his friends.

He wanted me to pet his head (as usual) but then tried to put his head over my hand and it made me back up (I was on the floor with him) and he started chasing me lol my boyfriend blocked his way and then my rabbit took the opportunity to get it on with him instead!

I couldn’t control my laughter for the next ten minutes, and my laugh is quite high pitched so it stopped my rabbit from continuing his hot pursuit.

I hope this little story helps you determine if your rabbits behavior is that of a hormonal bun.

                Good luck!!
