        Hi everyone,

So I have had this situation on my hands for quite a while now. Basically, I have 2 “bonded” bunnies and the reason why I put the word “bonded” in parenthesis is because my older bunny will occasionally lunge at my younger bunny. Like one second they will be grooming and laying side by side and then my older bunny, Pepper will just lunge and pull my younger bunnies fur. It’s very strange. Pepper is almost 2 and Simba is almost 1. Both are nuetered. Can someone tell me how to fix this? They have been “bonded” since May 2016 but Pepper still does this. I’ll spray pepper lightly with water when he lunges/chases Simba but it doesn’t stop the behavior. Someone help us! Is the just boys being boys? Or pepper is just acting like the big brother and picking on his little brother? Any ideas and solutions? It just breaks my heart when I see clumps of Peppers fur in the bunnies’ playpen but Pepper loves grooming Simba too and flops right next to him all of the time…

Fur pulling can easily be dangerous, you should stop all biting and fur pulling as soon as it happens to help avoid major damage to the bun being bitten. They arnt bonded. What bonding tactics have you done

When I first brought Simba home he was in a separate cage next to peppers cage. About 3x a day we would do sessions of having the bunnies in a neutral territory and having them together. If Pepper attached Simba I would spray him with water. Eventually Pepper warmed up to Simba and grooms him constantly. He still does that today but, out of no where he will stop grooming and just attack Simba its very strange. This happens a lot when I’m getting their treats out or if Simba is getting petted by me. The two bunnies live together, they cuddle together, they both groom each other, and they hop around the house together but I don’t understand why Pepper will occasionally pull out Simbas fur. I’m stumped.

If its always around food and attention, you likely have a jealous bunny. Try petting Pepper more often and for longer and see if that helps. Try to put food and treats in an area/room where they cant hear you get them. Food aggression isnt uncommon in rabbits
