This is Cherokee. I adopted him from a person that took him on as a foster after he was abandoned at a Petsmart. They had no idea age, breed or gender. He is a male, I have had rabbits before and know how to tell. (Not positive if he is neutered or just sucking em up though…or maybe too young for them to have descended?)  His body is the semi-arched type, his ears are a little longer than my hands which are about 6 inches. I want to say a NZR/FG cross? Maybe?  I wish I knew how old he is ug. He weighs about 8-9 lbs.   Also, what does it mean when they circle your feet?  We have only had him 5 days and he is doing this with me and not letting anyone else pet him, just me. Thank you for your thoughts and time.

Hello there, Cherokee is very cute He looks to still be young, though not very young and likely a large breed. I would guess somewhere in the realm of 4-5 months, just going on looks. If that’s the case with the age, you could probably expect to end up with a 13+ pound bunny.

In regards to the feet circling, it’s a hormonal behaviour and it means he’s excited/horny, and since he’s doing it to you and not letting anyone else pet him, he probably thinks you’re hot stuff. Often you’ll hear a soft honking or oinking along with it. It’s very common for this behaviour to start in rabbits when they reach puberty. It likely means that he isn’t neutered, although some neutered males will still show this behaviour it’s much less common. Neutering will usually stop most hormonal based behaviours like this. I still see the circling behaviour in my desexed pair, but only when they’re very excited about treats or pellets.

You’re right, I discovered today when he “flopped” for the first time that he is not neutered like I thought. So I will be working on getting him neutered soon as I can. He just stomped when my boyfriend came into the room. I get the feeling he is a lady’s bun. As to ending up with a larger bun, that is just fine. Just means more rabbit to love ^_^

Look at those ears! I’d say Flemmie mix too. Such a sweetie!

Cherokee says thank you ^_^ He chinned my foot twice today, but he also nipped my upper arm. How do I teach him not to nip? For now I am using the standard high pitch sound when he does it.

Depends on why he’s nipping. Some of that could be hormone-driven. If it is, then it might go away after neutering. He may also be more willing to learn from high pitched squeals after he is neutered.
