        Hello,

I currently own 3 bonded 4.5 month old female rabbits who are housed indoors in one large play pen(8ftx4ft). I plan to have them spayed at the 6 month mark.

I am a little worried that spaying them separately might affect their bond. Has anyone here ever spayed 3 rabbits at the same time? I’m also wondering if it would be safe for all three to be in their pen together post-operation. I’m not sure if I can/should divide the playpen to separate them as that would likely upset them. Maybe if they have internal stitching done, chewing won’t be an issue

They’re already starting to exhibit puberty behavior (humping, digging, regression of litter training) but no fighting, thankfully. October can’t come fast enough!

        Thanks in advance

We spayed both our two female rabbits when they were a little over 6 months old.  They were bonded since they were sisters and had been together since birth.  Being females, it’s a significant operation, and it was difficult to get their pain medication into them.  I’m sure they were in some pain.  It was apparent that they were comforting each other.  Grooming each other with their teeth and licking each other. They would always lay side by side sleeping.  I think having them done at the same time has the advantage that they can comfort each other.
