I’ve been trying to catch this stray bun for days now with no luck. My previous stray was really friendly and I was able to catch him on the second day. Any tips? He is very timid and will not let me approach him. I am able to crawl up to him but he runs when I am within a feet or so. Is there a stray bun favourite food? I’ve tried banana, and surprisingly, he did not eat it! I also tried oats, apples and lettuce. I am not able to get a live trap. Any advice would help! Thanks!

PS: I am experienced with rabbits just to put it in perspective.

Do you have some people that can help you? I’ve been involved in some stray roundups and having helpers is good. If you have an x-pen or some panels of the wire cube grids put together, that is also helpful. You can try to surround the rabbit and corral it, maybe up against a fence or some structure, or into a garage. You can also try throwing a blanket or sheet or quilt over it. Don’t chase it, but try to slowly surround it with some help. You might try cilantro since that is aromatic. Live traps aren’t always a good option anyway since they have to be monitored almost constantly. You wouldn’t want the rabbit to stay in the trap for long as it could injure itself from fright. You are also liable to catch possums or raccoons with traps.

Some of these rescues are quick and easy, and others can take a while. But try to get 2 or 3 people (or more) to help you and you might have more success.

Thanks, I tried to throw a quilt, but he was just cery frightened. He hides in bushes and I don’t have any xpens. I do have some spare metal mesh, I can try to make a wall with that.

Maybe try calling your local humane society? They might be able to lend or rent you a live trap.
