I was picking up my bun to put drops in his eye. He has cataract in one eye and is on eye drops. He jumped from my arms and hit his nose/ head on the wall. He rubbed his nose several times but after he seemed fine. After I put his drops in he seemed fine. He was hopping around and even ate a carrot. He is lounging now but he looks like he is breathing faster than normal.  I am wondering what I should be watching out for and if I should be taking him to a vet. It’s after hours and our vet isn’t on call tonight. Should I just observe him this evening or should I try and find an after hours bunny vet? I am worried. This is my first bunny and I don’t want to see him hurt. Any advice is appreciated.

        Thanks!

You’ll have to keep a close eye. Sometimes bunnies breathe like with their whole bodies without anything being wrong with them. Will he take a treat from you?

He could have hurt his teeth, so you’ll need to check his incisors, but it can of course wait until tomorrow, it’s nothing an ER vet would fix.

He may have been breathing faster after due to stress. How is he now? I agree with bam about checking his incisors. My lop managed to break 2 of his after he took a jump from my arms and hit his face. Thankfully, it didn’t cause a problem.

Hi! I have checked him out. He is now eating and drinking normally and he seems like he is back to himself. Thank you for the replies!
