This is my first and only rabbit and I’m worried she is too thin. She’s almost 4 months old, unfixed, and a Flemish giant. I have no idea what her weight is. I tried weighing her on our old springy bathroom scale in a box and while holding her but I think it’s too old and didn’t work right. She feels fat on her belly but I can easily feel her ribs and hip bones. I guess they aren’t too pokey (not completely emaciated feeling) but she just feels too boney to me. Maybe someone can tell me how they should feel and look at these pictures https://imgur.com/a/tII1M
I think she feels thinner than when we first got her a month ago, but I’m not sure. I feed her adult rabbit pellets unlimited, unlimited alfalfa hay, and a lot of leafy green vegetables (about a cup/2 cups a day when I get home from work).
        Thank you!

Such a pretty bunny! She looks a healthy weight to me for her age, but if you are concerned, you can always take her to your rabbit certified vet and have her weight checked over. If she is underweight, the vet can give you some advice for helping her put on weight, and if she is underweight even after the diet, the vet can run a test or two to make sure she doesnt have parasites

She looks quite healthy to me and she’s real cute.
One of my rabbits is quite skinny no matter how much she eats.. I was really worried at first and took her to a vet to get her tested for a bunch of different parasites. She was cleared and the vet said she’s perfectly fine. She’s just not gaining weight… We even had to hold off on her spay because the vet was also concerned with her weight, but i got her spayed a lil over a week ago and she made it out fine.
I think some bunnies just don’t gain a lot of weight and feel a bit boney. I read that a lot of times they start bulking up a lil once they hit 6 months- 1year or something but I’m not sure. My rabbits if almost 5 months and she’s still pretty boney.

I do need to find a local vet for her. I have one for my dog and I’m hoping they see rabbits as well.
She doesn’t have any unusual droppings at all so hopefully a parasite check can wait until next payday.
She has a great appetite; eats like a horse! Eats a lot of hay (hard to tell exactly how much since she also likes to flatten it in her litter box and sit on it haha) and gets really excited when I open the fridge. I was hoping rabbits were like kids and are just lanky and skinny until they mature. That sounds like the case

                Gorgeous rabbit!

I think I heard flemish giants often have trouble maintaining weight, even as adults. I wonder if adding some junior pellets in with the current ones would help? Perhaps look at Sherwood Forest junior pellets which have higher % of fat.

True. They can look pretty lean under 1 year of age.

                Good luck finding a vet!

Maybe it’s just hard to maintain weight when you binky all day long haha.
I read that flemmies are lazy and laid back but she’s a crazy hyper bun.

I saw Sherwood online and I think I’ll buy some next week!

Probably because of her age. Enjoy! Watching big bunny binkies is pretty cool. My big girl is older so hers are more like a shimmy.
