Can rabbits safely live off purely hay/water? I will be leaving Friday morning and returning Monday night. My previous bunny boarding plan fell through, and a reputable one is too expensive. I have one last hope, but if they fall through as well then I will have no option. They have two very large water bottles, and a shower caddy I use as a hayrack. I barely have to fill it up as it is, but I am worried about their pellets ect.

It’s not only the fact that their food and water could run out, there is also the danger of leaving rabbits alone since they can sometimes take ill very quickly or get injured. If one of your rabbits took ill or stopped eating and pooping soon after you left, it would be days before it got any medical attention and that could very well be too late. You could probably leave a rabbit alone if you were going to be gone less than 24 hours, but 3 days is a long time and anything could happen. If you don’t board them, you would need to have someone come by at least once a day to check on them, making sure that they have fresh food and that they are looking and acting okay. That person would need to know what to look for in a sick or injured bunny and would need to know what to do in an emergency and what vet to go to if necessary.

My sister offered to do it. I didn’t even think about their health. Thanks for the heads up
