So this morning before I was going to leave for work I had to get Madeline in her cage. I grabbed her to pick her up and she kicked and started to slip. I noticed that she was slipping so I started to lower her down and she fell 5 inches (at the most it could have been less than that) onto the carpet and on her back. She seemed to mostly fall on her butt/ lower back… but still she fell. She got up and hopped off, she didnt squeal but I am very worried about her. I know how fragile a rabbits back is and she is a larger rabbit (shes 12 weeks old and a French Lop). Does anyone know what I should do. I unfortunately was late for work and had to just lock her up and go… so I do not know how she is doing. I checked her very quickly before I left and she was eating her pellets… but I just feel so terrible. I am so worried about her… and today I have to take her with us on a weekend trip because I cant find someone to baby sit her. I will be absolutely crushed if she is hurt.

Is it possible that she could be okay from this fall? What do I need to do for her to make sure she will be okay?

Any advice is much appreciated….thank you

Hi there, accidents happen I wouldn’t beat yourself up about it! Hopefully your rabbit is ok that’s the main thing.

Is there any change in her behaviour? Rabbits are very good at concealing any pain they are feeling.

If she is acting any differently, for example hunching in a corner, not a lot of movement and not eating then I would take her to the vet. If she seems normal then keep monitoring her, until you are satisfied that everything is ok.

Hope that helps, I’m sure others will give an input too
