It’s almost winter time here in Australia and I’m not sure if I should do anything extra to keep my bun warm? He lives in the kitchen which is not a room we heat (though it warms up whenever anyone is cooking, I suppose).  It only has one wall/window that is a house exterior wall, the others are all insulated by other rooms.  He sleeps in a cardboard box with a fleece blanket, and most mornings I let him play in my room with me anyway (which is heated).

My city very rarely drops below 0c at night (32F) though I don’t know how cold the kitchen gets as we don’t have a thermostat or anything (obviously not THAT cold, seeing as it’s a fairly well insulated house).  Will Gus be okay in that?

(my housemate is worrying for him and wants to get him a hot water bottle – I have a feeling that would be a bad idea, though  )

Good to know, thanks! I’ll just let him in my room longer if it’s a particularly cold morning, I guess :3

I totally agree that buns do excellently with cold. If it freezes you obviously need to refill his water-bowl often, but I wouldn’t think your kitchen would get below 0 C. As long as a bun is shielded from rain, snow and wind it won’t freeze. If you have a severe draft along the floor you could provide him with some sort of elevated platform to rest on. And he might need a bit of extra food because he’ll grow a thick fur coat.
