          Hi Mary

          I’m sorry for your loss.

I think it is great you are looking to adopt an older rabbit.

Do you mind posting your general location? ie. nearest major city.

          Have you tried using petfinder.com

Some rescues will do adoptions further afield also…

This is the results I got for senior female rabbits via petfinder
            http://www.petfinder.com/pet-search?location=San+Francisco+CA&animal=rabbit&breed=&age=senior&gender=female&filtersUpdated=false&distance=&name=

Regarding location, I used both the example one (Atlanta) and San Francisco and got the same result because I selected “Anywhere” as distance from location.

Some rescues or shelters list their animals on Pet Harbor instead of Pet Finder, and some shelters (Humane Societies) only list animals on their own website, so you do have to check various sources to see more of the rabbits available. At a shelter/Humane Society, rabbits can be a low priority and they may not get listed as quickly as a dog or cat, so it’s would be a good idea to call any shelters in your area, besides checking their websites. You could also try speaking with your vet about this. It’s possible that someone who goes to them has an older rabbit who is in need of a new home.
