I know this site is for pet rabbits but I’m in a bit of a spot.
There’s this wild bunny at work that lives underneath the pallets that has lawn and garden stuff, such as flowers. It lives under those and comes out to eat grass on the grassy places they have in the parking lot. I’ve tried catching it a few times so I could take it to a better home but no luck. He’s gotten really friendly but still won’t let me catch him.
He’s been there for a long time and knows to stay away from cars so I haven’t worried to an extreme about him. But today they are spraying the grass (to keep weeds out assumingly) and fertilizing!! I don’t want him to eat the grass and get poisoned but I don’t get off work for another 7 hours. I’m afraid that even if I do catch him after work it may be too late because he may eat the grass by then. I thought about taking him to the vet afterwards but I can’t really afford to. Any suggestions what I can do to help this poor bun. He only looks to be about 2 months old.

Is there an animal control number you could call to catch and relocate him to a safer spot?

I don’t know I just moved here. Im not sure how their animal control deals with stuff like that because I know a lot of them will just kill the bunny and I don’t want that.
I noticed that the truck said organic lawn care? Hopefully maybe it might be a little safer for it? I don’t know.
I’m hoping there might be a bunny rescue or something that can help him if I catch him later.

Look in the Yellow Pages for a shelter or rescue and call and ask if they’d come out??

I’m assuming it’s a stray rabbit, perhaps a “discarded” Easter bunny?

Here’s an article on how to catch a stray bunny:
                https://binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/133642/Default.aspx

It would be very kind of you to catch it. I hope it won’t be harmed by the spray, but it’s difficult to say if he will avoid eating the grass, maybe if it smells funny he won’t want it.

Just a quick note to say you are a quality person, caring so much about this rabbit. I hope there is a good outcome and good luck!

As soon as I get on lunch I’ll start calling around and see if I can find a shelter or a rescue. I’m so worried about the little thing. I saw him binkying the other day he was so happy I would hate to see him get hurt.

I believe he is a wild bunny that left it’s mom and got lost. He’s just been around people a lot and gotten use to them. When I get off work I might grab some kale or romain and carrots and see if I can get him to come up to me. That’s if I can’t find someone else to rescue him before then. The poor thing.

I hope he ends up safe and sound. Good luck if you do decide to try and catch him with a cardboard box trap and some bunny yumyums. Thanks for caring in either case.

I have a job that deals with wildlife and it sounds like this little guy may be in a precarious situation. I recommend calling every resource you can in your area and the immediate surrounding areas to see if anyone knows someone that may take him in (such as someone who handles rehabilitation.) Not sure if your area has all of these agencies, but if they do they are worth a try: animal control, wildlife services, game and fish, humane societies, animal shelters, and local veterinarians. Someone at one of those agencies or offices might know of someone that can help that will take him in or be able to release him in a better location. We have a person two hours from us that does bird rehabilitation, but the vet offices don’t know about him, so people end up calling us and we get them in touch with him as an example. Good luck and thanks for trying to help the little guy!

I couldn’t find any bunny rescues or shelters nearby unfortunately. I also couldn’t find him after work I hope I see him tomorrow. I’m hoping that the organic lawn solutions means it’s not chemicals. One of my co workers said that if it’s really dangerous they have to put up signs and they didn’t so here’s hoping for the best! I feel so bad for the little mordecai

I can imagine how worried you must be.

Two possible scenarios: all the spraying activity scared bun away to a safer place OR bun is still around and ok if the sprays are indeed non-chemical

Haven’t seen him yet today but its raining pretty good so I’m sure he’s taking cover for now. I hope the rain washes away the spray so he can eat his grass again. I work later today and get off when he’s usually out and playing so I hope I see him after work.

Rain is good news. Really hoping you see this brave little rabbit – and I say brave because you say he/she is young, would say regardless because is clearly alone yet trying best to survive in an urban and lonely environment. Hoping for the best!

Good news everyone! I saw Mordecai this morning! He was out and binkying around in the rain! I’m just glad to know he’s in good health.

Great news! Binkies even. Any chance sometime getting a pic on your phone even so we can see what this little fellow looks like? Any success finding anyone local to catch him safely? Sounds like he deserves a good home.

That’s great news, Rebelbun! I was worried about him. Now to lure him into a nice dry box full of hay and carrot tops.

Unfortunately I haven’t found anyone to come get him
I hope he will be out tonight when I get off still. I keep looking for him but it’s almost like he knows when I get off and hides lol. I’m going to keep trying for sure. There’s some bunny shelters down state that I can take him to if I catch him.

Cant tell from your profile where you are exactly. From forums and twitters etc I follow I have a pretty good list of shelters committed to adoption. This might help you. Sadly some shelters get overcrowded – or are not rabbit focused – and adoption becomes a lessor priority. Others are firmly committed to keeping a buns until a forever home can be found. Let me know if info would help. Good luck!!
