Bunny doesn’t eat carrots, banana, or apple. What treats should I give him?

He enjoys greens such as cilantro, basil and paisley, but I do not consider them as treats.

Hey! My bunny is the same way! She hates things that I consider “treats” (including carrots, apples and bananas) but loves greens. Even though you do not consider them treats, the bunny does, so they are still great to use as rewards for training purposes.

Mine don’t like carrots. Bananas are bunny crack though. Hmm, I don’t see why veggies can’t be “treats”. What about pellets? Some bunnies think those are treats too. LOL

My four all happily accept extra pellets as treats

My buns think pellets are treats. Bam can’t have carrots, it messes up his tummy. I tried giving them banana once, they were not amused. Yohio even stomped at the evil thing.

Dandelion leaves can be treats. And parsley and cilantro.

Some buns have more of a sweet tooth. My boy LOVES the Oxbow and Smaks cookie-type treats. He also really loves fruit. Mint herbs or dried Willow leaves (BB store has some) can also be a nice treat.

Chomondeley doesn’t eat carrots either!! He completely refuses fruit. I tried to give him banana and he literally turned away from it. Chomondeley loves his pellets though. He also likes parsley, romaine lettuce, and kale. He’s so picky! Cinnamon used to eat every fruit or vegetable I put in front of her, and loved her hay and pellets as well. Just goes to show that some buns are crazier than others…

Favorite treat for our two Flemish 8 month rabbits are Fuji apples, banana slices, and guavas.  The Fuji apples have to be from the farmer’s market….they don’t like the grocery store apples!.  The bananas have to be tart…in other words the banana skin has to be partially green.  Our previous 11 1/2 year old rabbit also enjoyed bing cherries, dry roasted unsalted almonds and peanuts.

My bunnies love their veggies so much – they are all like treats. Lately I’ve been giving Lancelot the Oxbow Natural Science Joint Support tabs. To keep Guinivere from stealing his joint tab, I give her an oxbow baked treat at the same time. The other pair of bunnies don’t get special treats, just the usual veggies. Lancelot doesn’t get fruit. He has a sensitive belly.

If they accept it as a treat, I consider it a treat-even if it’s a normal part of the diet. The whole purpose of a treat is something they love, it doesn’t necessarily have to be something special.
If your bunny doesn’t fancy veggie treats, you can try dried bunny-safe flowers and herbs, dried oat sprigs, etc.
