        Hello everybun,

I keep bunny Melon in a spare bedroom and he always manages to jump to the bed and pee. I have put fences around the bed and have no idea how he got up there. I thought spraying perfume on a new bed cover will help with his urge to cover the human scent, however this didnt help neither.

Any ideas to stop this behavior?

I was thinking to remove the fences and cover the mattress with heavy duty cardboard (or something else) so he can play on the bed without damaging the bed. Has anybun tried this?

Bramble loves to pee on soft things too. It doesn’t look very pretty but a litter box on the bed/sofa worked for us Hoping Bramble will improve once her hormones settle down so we can take it down!

I’d cover it with a tarp or plastic sheeting and then a blanket or towels that can be washed over it so that he doesn’t eat the plastic.

            Is he neutered?

My bunny Bam was obsessed with peeing on the sofa but it stopped after he was neutered. I covered it with a shower-curtain, but in the end I had to block it off completely. A couple of weeks after his neuter it was as if he’d forgot about the sofa.

My bun loves peeing on a pile of clothes or towel, so I know what you mean. As soon as she started this behavior, I got her a simple cardboard box and laid some newspaper and hay on it, and boom; she never peed on anything besides the box again.

We’ve been having a similar problem with our bun pooping all over the couch and peeing on the bed whenever she gets the chance. Just being strict and gently pushing her off and saying “NO” has worked fairly well. Now we don’t have to physically push her off because she reacts to our verbal command. This might not work for all buns, especially if they get scared easily and you don’t want to scare them as it can be difficult to win back trust if it’s broken. Our bun just happens to be impossible to spook so we have to be firm with her.

My velveteen lop even though we haven’t had her very long and she’s young would come out of her cage just to pee on my bed. (Their cage is right next to and opens up to my bed) IT got very frustrating having to wash my comforter everyday, I even sprayed the spots with vinegar water to no result. I finally put a bigger litter box in her cage and after catching her in the act and gently nudging her back to her box she got the hint. Only took three or four times, I know this would be difficult since they’re in a spare bedroom.

update: I bought a waterproof bed cover from walmart and sprayed it with white vinegar. Unfortunately my bunny still peed but the bed cover really saved a lot of the hassle. Finally I gave in and put a litter box on the bed. So far no accidents. Will try to remove the litter box after he is neutered.
