Hello from the eastern plains of Colorado! I hope you all can accept a newbie to the forum, and a newbie to rabbits in general. A few days ago my boyfriend and I were in Denver when we found a stray rabbit in the road who was almost hit by numerous cars. We pulled over and snatched her up and have done nothing but given her love since. We have posted flyers about her in case any one in missing her, but no one has contacted us yet. (It’s been about a week) At this point we are set on keeping her. She has such a great personality and is really friendly and didn’t look malnourished so we figured she must have a family that loves her very dearly. Until someone contacts us with a full description of her (to ensure she goes back to right family), she will be very spoiled in our house ! She has already found her way into our hearts. Any advice or name ideas (we like Japanese names) would be greatly appreciated!

        Thanks,
        MorgyChan

Hello and welcome to Binky Bunny! Thank you for rescuing the bunny. It sounds like it was an easy rescue and that she really wanted to be saved. She was likely deliberately put out by her owners. It unfortunately happens far too often. People either don’t know or don’t care that a domestic rabbit can’t make it outside on its own.

If you haven’t already done so, it would be a good idea to take her to a rabbit savvy vet to be checked out. Here is the vet list page from the Colorado HRS chapter: https://coloradohrs.org/vet-list/. It’s a few years old, but hopefully still pretty much current. It says on the previous page that they recommend the vets with an asterisk by their name.

There is a lot of good information on rabbit care here. Click the BUNNY INFO link at the top of the page.

One of the forum leaders here, LBJ10, is known as the Bunny Name Master. There are other members who might help you with her name too.

Big welcome to the BB family! What about “Hato”? I’m 99% it means Pigeon in Japanese.
