Forum HOUSE RABBIT Q & A Housing two lionheads

        I have a 1 year old male lionhead rabbit and am thinking of getting a 8 week old lionhead rabbit sex unknown, what does everyone think about housing 2 lionheads in the same cage together? What could I do to make them both comfortable if I do decide to get a second bunny?

          Has your male been neutered? You should not put two rabbits together until both have been spayed or neutered. Since you wouldn’t be able to spay or neuter the 8 week old bunny for a few months, you would have to keep them separated, then bond them after both had their surgeries and 2 to 4 weeks had passed. Rabbits can fight and severely injure each other, especially when driven by hormones. That’s why you should be careful and follow the bonding procedures. Rabbits can also be mis-sexed, then before you know it, you are faced with a litter.
