        Today I noticed that my 6 month old rabbit Rolo has a pea-sized (and shaped) hard lump on his ear. I have touched and lightly squeezed it and it doesn’t appear to hurt him (he didn’t react to it anyway). It’s a hard, round lump and there is no sign of any wound or scarring or anything else that could indicate he was bitten by my other rabbits.

        I’ve taken a picture. It’s not massively clear, but you can see the light round patch on the bottom right side of his ear.

        Has anyone experienced this before? I’m wanting to take him to the vet, but I wanted to make sure I’m not freaking out over nothing.

          I’m no expert, but I myself take my rabbits to the vet for small things like a few days of sneezing. Definitely get it checked! We may have our guesses, or even a prognosis, but we’re no vets! (;

            If it’s the size of a pea I’d like to get a vet’s opinion. They can get small harmless bumps that come and go away, but not as big as a pea. It’s probably harmless since he’s so young, but it might be best to have it removed.

            It could of course still be connective tissue (scar tissue) that has formed in/around a small bite-wound, long since healed up. That’d be consistent with it being hard and not tender and not inflamed. Call your vet and ask. They might tell you to just keep an eye and come in if it gets bigger. I take it he’s eating and pooping and acting normal?

              Thank you. Yes, there’s nothing noticeably wrong with him (just this afternoon he stole half my fiance’s sandwich and ran off with it!). He’s just his normal self, eating, drinking, pooping, and being cheeky.

              I’ll phone the vets tomorrow and ask if they’d recommend me bringing him in, thank you.
