        Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce my two boys, Joey and Stu, as well as myself (my name’s Tooba)!

I’ve posted a photo, so everyone gets a look-see at my kiddies. The one on the left is Joey and he’s turning a year old this August. The one on the right is Stu, and he’s turning 8 years old this May! I took both of them in last year. At our house, both of them are free-roam (despite slight potty problems that I’m working with them to resolve). Hehe…
Stu used to live with his previous family near the Trenton area. He was with them for five years, and before them, he lived with another family for two years. Unfortunately, his recent family wasn’t able to keep him, as they were all working individuals and were in the process of moving… I reached out to them, more than happy and very eager to take him in. He’s a lot healthier now (thank God) than when I first met him, and he’s much more open to affection from strangers than he ever was before (…before, he was very closed-off and guarded, which I believe is understandable, considering he was with his last family for 5 years). Still, he’s a bit timid when first meeting another, but once he becomes trusting, he’s very, very affectionate. Joey is another story… He was rescued by a lovely lady, Jillian, who houses buns looking for forever homes. I took him in when he was about three months old (around November). He’s the most excited little guy ever – very curious and wants to be first in-the-know about everything. Very demanding for time and attention (he gets a lot but always wants more), but that stems from a deep-rooted place of love. Haha.
Both aren’t neutered (yet). At the time, I didn’t have the financial means to have them neutered. Now that I do, I’m researching different rabbit-savvy vets around my area, unconcerned about the price as much as I am concerned about their safety and health. I’m very nervous about the procedure, but I’m working hard to find the best vet I can for them to perform the surgery. Different post on that coming up, as I wanted to ask bunny parents here what I should expect from and before/after the whole neutering process…
A little bit about me… well, I’m 22, in college (currently taking a year off school), working full-time nights as a nursing assistant (the job comes in handy when I’m watching over the boys in the case they show signs of illness – rarely ever happens thank God but when it does I won’t let them out of my sight!). I spend a lot of time exercising, meditating, journaling and, of course, spending time with my boys Joey and Stu.

If you have any questions, ask away! I’m also interested in getting to know the many bunny parents out there. Hopefully, this wasn’t too long of a post.

Welcome Tooba! Your bunnies are adorable and such different personalities! They are very lucky to have you. You will find many other bunny owners who have had their bunnies neutered (much less invasive and quicker healing time than spays). And it sounds like you know finding a rabbit savvy vet is the way to go. Ask your questions about the Neutering in the one of the other sections and you will get some focused responses.

Again, welcome and we look forward to helping you out and seeing more and hearing more about your two cute bunny dudes.

Thanks for the warm welcome, BB!! (The boys than you too!)

I’m looking around to find the right section to ask more questions about neutering. I mean, I have it all down – what homeopathcs to use in case of pain (of course I’ll ask their Vet about that situation) and so on. I guess I’m looking for some reassurance, being that this would be their (our) first journey through the procedure together.

Thanks so much again! Will write back soon!

Hi Tooba and welcome fro me too =) Your buns are adorable!
The House rabbit Q & A forum-section is good for questions about neutering. Neutering is not a big procedure, thankfully. You can have blood-works done beforehand to see so your rabbits don’t have anything that indicates that they won’t tolerate the anaesthetics. Most buns do tolerate anaesthetics but there are the odd cases that don’t. I have two neutered males buns. One was fully adult when he was neutered and one was young. There were no problems in either of them, but the young one bounced back more quickly.

Your bun kids are really cute, Tooba !
We’re having our bunny neutered asap… he has an appointment for a checkup and bloodwork in April and the procedure is in May—that’s the soonest we could get in.
Vet’s reactions to neutering/spaying RABBITS are sure different. One animal clinic laughed at me for suggesting that a rabbit be looked at by a vet.
Found one about two hours away that will ‘fix’ Fiver.
Good luck with your bunnies !
