At around 2 am last night, Oakley attacked my boyfriends face while he was sleeping. Oakley got onto my bed because he is free roam and he started digging at the side of his face right beside his eye! I don’t understand why he would do this. My boyfriend is scarred mentally and physically. There was ALOT of blood. My boyfriend has never been mean to Oakley he always pets him whenever he sees him. This could mean I might have to rehome him.

That’s disturbing. Do you think it was an intentional attack or was he digging and happened to hurt your boyfriend?

I cannot imagine it was intentional – if it was dark then he may not have known what he was digging at.

Might want to not allow him in the bedroom at night if he’s free roam.

It could have been because it was dark but he literally when on my bed walked straight up to Clark and began digging ON his face not beside it.
I can’t take him out of my room at night because my parents aren’t find of the bunny and when I cage him he just aggressively chews and tries to rip down the cage all night. He was so angry when I put him in the cage last night, he was thumping and honking at me like crazy

Maybe he was trying to dig the pillow and missed? I had a bun who would obsessively dig at the pillow and would get quite angry when I tried to stop him.

I’m thinking it was accidental. He probably didn’t realize he was digging on your boyfriend’s face and causing injury. He may have wanted to dig the pillow or blanket and go your boyfriend’s face instead. Did you ever get to the bottom of his missing boy bits? I remember you saying you had an appointment Friday. I bring it up because the digging might be remedied a bit by having him neutered (or spayed? ).

My bun likes to nibble at my clothing, but for some reason lately every time i sit on the floor with her she digs at me. She’ll nibble a bit and then start digging at my clothes. She started doing it to my husband too now when he lays on the floor with her. Im not sure what it means but I know for sure it isn’t malicious bc she loves floor time with us.

prey animals do not attack something 200x their size for no reason in the dark I’m thinking as an animal who is active at that time of night, he hopped up on the bed and did a fun activity. Just a weird accident. .
I would just not allow him access to the bedroom at night now.

Is Oakley scarred? I wonder how loud and scary things got quickly when your boyfriend woke up-how is Oakley eating and acting now?

I agree with what everyone else has said – it seems unlikely that a bunny would aggressively attack someone without even being provoked. I know my Merlin loves to scratch and dig whenever he is on my bed so, as already suggested, its possible that is all Oakley was trying to do but your boyfriend happened to be in the way. Whatever the case, I hope your boyfriend and Oakley are both okay!
