Hi everyone!! I have a 5 month old rabbit and she has hit puberty starting to circle my feet ( which could be play but it’s something new) and has randomly bit me really hard the other day and she is normally a total sweetheart! And I really do not want to lose her litter box habits!!I’m 13 and I have done tons of research before I got her and know what I need to do but my parents don’t she is just at the right age to spay and my parents don’t want to pay for it and I have no way to get money and pay for it myself! I’m still trying to say why we should spay her and stuff but my mom gets really mad when I bring up the subject. So does anyone have any experience with owning a pet bunny that’s not spayed/neutered?? I really want to spay her but I’m not sure if I have a choice, because my parents think I don’t know as much about bunnies than I actually do! I literally know everything about her and my info has not come from just one website it’s from all of them! Haha

Its been a few months since my bunny hit puberty. I just cant save up enough money to get her spayed as its quite expensive , ( im 14 btw ). Let me tell you its very hard to deal with her. She poops everywhere when shes out for playtime. She pees under beds to mark territory. She does growl and snort a bit more than she used to , but even though all this goes on she is still a very big sweetheart , that is filled with hormones.

and i think i am going to wait for a month or two to see how she is, but she has been getting quite bossy lately (nipping me when im in her way) but im just crossing my fingers! if she gets really bad i hope i can persuade my parents at least to give me some money….

              Anytime !!
I hope she doesn’t get too bad with her attitude but if she does I hope your parents will finally agree.

Hey, unfortunately there is no way to stop the behaviour of a bunny full of hormones hahaha!

I found it so hard to deal with my bunny Arthur as he would spray urine all over me and also run circles!! He was so naughty but since getting neutered a couple of weeks ago, he’s not sprayed since! So well behaved and using the litter tray perfectly!

Id just put some money away every week, even help around the house and see if you can earn a little bit of money and book your bunny in. Really recommend it.
Also, she will live a longer and happier life. 🙂 x

All the best, Kiddo. I know it’s not easy when you have no source of income and you need this done. If your parents can afford it, maybe you can try for extra chores around the house, or early Christmas or something like that. Guess it could wait til Christmas. Some rabbits do well even if they aren’t spayed, at least with wetting in their boxes. But I imagine the pooping is going to be an ongoing battle at least. Also, is there a shelter nearby that might do a low-cost spay? Good luck with this.

And i think i will make some alls to near by shelters/vetclinics to see whoever will offer the cheapest and safest spay so i also know exactly how much money, some people say a couple hundred, and others say below 1 hundred

While the males might be below 100, unless you get a low-cost clinic I think you will be well over there for a female
