I’m new to caring bunnies and I have an angora bunny she is only 3months old. I was wondering if any of you guys have any tips on maintaining her wild hair and how can I make her stay still so I can brush her. She will tolerate it for at least 3 to 5 minutes, but her hair has tangles that I have to be careful. I’m not yet done brushing and she bolts away to play with her chew toys. Please help me.

Are Kaytee Timothy Cubes considered a treat or just regular hay?

Bunnies this age generally are difficult to control – they just want to play! Try the bathroom which is a small place and sit with your legs spread out in front of you and put her in between the legs – see if that will help constrain her a bit. You can gently restrain her this way and see if you can groom her. Is her fur more silky or more coarse?

          Timothy cubes are just treats.

That would explain why she zooms around from one room to the next room. I’ll try the bathroom tip, thank you so much. Her fur is very silky, but tangles very easily. Had to gently bush her to untangle most of it and she is very impatient.

So that’s why she likes to nibble the cubes I better control that or she could get addicted to it.

Hehe, try getting a toddler to stand still for a half hour to have their hair done! She is young, and still getting to know you, so if she will tolerate 3-5 minute sessions, do 3-5 minute sessions regularly during the day. Eventually, the sessions will get longer and you’ll get better at grooming. You’ll get there!

I think it’s fine if she nibbles the cubes as long as she eats her hay.

That silky fur is hard to control, I agree, it gets tangled easily – ZoeS has a great recommendation – a bit at a time.

She still eats her hay, she likes it better if I mixed the alfalfa hay with timothy, Grass, or that oats hay.

I guess one step at a time then. I just don’t want her to accidentally ingest those hairs. It could be a problem and I can’t cut the hair yet because it’s too close to her skin.

Is she shedding at the moment?

No, not that I’m aware of what shedding means to a rabbit. Peanut doesn’t leave hair, but since her hair is long it gets tangled.
