We have a wonderful rescue lop bun who gets daily supervised outside time in our backyard garden.  We have checked the toxicity of almost everything out there.  Initially, I didn’t realize that single stone fruit leaves (i.e., apricot) were on the toxic list as I assumed they were okay like apple leaves.  So, he has happily nibbled on Apricot leaves for a year without problems..now that I know, I’m wondering how frantic I have to be about getting every last leaf off the ground before we let him have his daily romp (with lot’s of binkies!) Is it a dosage issue??? He just hasn’t had enough?  Makes me really really nervous to have him munching on leaves laced with cyanide but it’s a big tree and hard to stop him from getting a couple of leaves in his little maw…and his outdoor running time is the highlight of his day!

        Thanks for any insight…

Are the leaves dry when he nibbles on them?

Can be a variety depending on the time of year…we are in CA so the apricot has dropped its leaves although they aren’t “dry.”  They have changed color but still have a water content.  He loves them.   Maybe the totally green fresh leaves have the highest toxicity?
