So the first thing I introduced to my bunny was mint. She seemed to love it, she would eat it out of my hand and eat all of the ones I gave her. Then I introduced spinach and she was ok with it, didn’t seem too thrilled. Then I introduced kale, she goes crazy for it and suddenly doesn’t eat mint anymore???  I gave her some cilantro after that and she seemed to love it again, but after a week she treats it like she treats mint! She doesn’t eat much of it anymore. It seems like all she’ll really want to eat is kale kale and more kale. Is it normal for rabbits to be so picky? x____x I don’t know what to do with all the cilantro I bought.

She also did the same thing with carrots, she loved it and then suddenly didn’t like it anymore.

Should I just keep trying different vegetables? And is it okay to feed kale as a main leafy green?

        thankss

Does she still eat pellets and hay?
I’m no expert, but I was under the impression that kale is very healthy but also very high in calcium, If you can possibly convince her to eat other veggies too I’d recommend it, excessive calcium can be a bad thing.
My bunny is intensely picky and sometimes only wants one specific veggie treat, but normally after a couple weeks he’ll decide he has a new favorite. Just introduce him to lots of new and yummy snacks (Dandelions are always popular), so far it sounds like you’ve been doing just that. Again though, I’m no expert

Oh yeah. Dandelions for sure. Spring greens are great too and I think typically people give romaine and leaf lettuces as a base veggie. The verdict seems
To be out on the kale though one old timer at least says it’s fine I think most people make a variety salad

yeah she eats pellets and hay fine, I’m just having trouble finding a veggie she will actually like and KEEP liking T___T
Not sure where I can get dandelions. I’ll try the romaine lettuce though. If anyone else has veggie recommendations that their rabbits tend to really like, I’d love to know.

She didn’t eat any of the cilantro. mint, and carrot I left for her today. As soon as I came over with kale she gobbled the kale all up

Yeah. Dandelions are in organic veggie sections if you can’t pick them outside

Dandelion greens are supposed to be sweet so they might like them. Also you can try flat parsley and of course the romaine lettuce

Oh dear, Mr Roger’s favourite is also Kale so he’s got two bags of Kale and one rocket, watercress and something else mix. Looks like I’ll have to make some adjustments for next week.

Kale is a favorite of my buns too. Sarita linked an article a while back about how kale is now thought to be fine to feed daily… might be able to find it, I can’t remember the thread though. Hrm. Will look later.

Kale and other high calcium veggies can be fine for some bunnies and not others, and some veggies that are high in calcium also have diuretic properties. Its an individual bunny thing sometimes.

Moshi could eat kale all day long and not have bladder issues. If Kieko and Marlee even look at anything high in calcium (that doesn’t have diuretic properties), they start having issues with calcium “grit” and have to have sub-q fluids to help flush their bladders.

I try to look at it like I do other veggies such as broccoli — broccoli gives some bunnies gas but not others. So when it comes to bunny veggies, you should find a variety of veggies that your bunny likes and that don’t cause your individual bunny issues.

Could you chop the other veggies up really fine and sprinkle them over the kale? That kind of helps to get them used to the taste of the other veg and could encourage them to eat it.

The romaine lettuce is working….for now. hopefully she keeps liking it
