Hera is the pickiest bun when it comes to greens/fresh food.  She loves pellets, hay, treats, etc.  But she either snubs most greens, or eats them for a day or two then decides she’s bored of them.  I’ve tried…

        – Romaine

        – Green Leaf Lettuce

        – Red Leaf Lettuce

        – Endive

        – Cilantro (she likes it – but it gives her runny poops.

        – Basil

        – Mint

        – Iceburg lettuce (not ideal, but it was worth a try)

        – Apples

        – Carrots

        – Berries

        – Kale

        – Turnip greens

        – Collard greens

        – Mustard greens

        – Parsley (curly and flat)

She seriously doesn’t like any of these except the cilantro, but it upsets her tummy.  Is there any other greens similar to cilantro?

I know she’s getting enough to eat, because she’s a little hay vacuum and eats her pellets with gusto.  I just feel bad giving Zeus a big pile of greens and he digs right in, but then I give her some and she’ll sniff it then turn away.

Wild Fennel fronds are the perennial favourite with mine.

I still have not found a veggie my boy bunny will eat. He doesn’t eat anything except for hay and pellets. He’s perfectly healthy (in fact a bit overweight) but the only other thing he will touch is papaya tablets. So I guess I have the same question. Did you adopt Hera?? I got Coco from a woman who let him run free in the yard for two years of his life, so I think that may have something to do with the veggie thing. He also hates going on anything that doesn’t have carpet. Silly bunny.

Yeah I adopted her from a vet office where she was relinquished by her breeder.  I don’t think she ever got fresh food before I owned her.

have you tried Dandelion greens? I heard they are slightly sweet so maybe she’ll like them? I haven’t tried them myself so I don’t know haha but my bun gobbles this stuff up

Also, have you tried radish tops and arugula?

I think they can have wheat grass too? I can’t recall, maybe someone can confirm if this is okay.

One thing I will mention is that even if she did take to the iceberg lettuce, it would ultimately do more harm than good because the high water content isn’t good for the digestion – and of course there’s no nutrition value in it, but I’m guessing you already knew that.

The only thing I can really suggest is to try everything on the safe veggie list! If you find something, search it online to make sure it’s safe for bunnies. You could try tango lettuce and carrot tops for a start! Good luck!

Potamus like this too. Maple also sometimes. So when I give the trio greens, Gooseman eats the majority, Maple grazes and Potamus goes and eats hay. I don’t know why because in the 1st year I had the girls, they both ate the greens just fine.
I keep thinking she’s going to be a dental bunny – but she manages hay okay so I don’t know…

I’m sure if I were to nix their pellets, she’d take a liking to greens again.

Have you tried offering Hera greens at different times of the day or evening? I’ve seen that gain more interest sometimes.

Bramble was a bit like that at first, in fact I am still slowly introducing greens into his diet (he is five months old) the only thing that worked for me was giving him one particular veg at a different time from his pellets, usually when he first got out in the morning. I then stuck to just this veg for a week or so then changed it for a different one, then the next week gave him both then a new one the next week, then all three and so on so forth. My current issue is he is refusing point blank to eat the new adult pellets, on my vets recommendation I kept him on junior ones till he was 23 weeks because the vet said not to change him to adult before I had him neutered at 22 weeks, I have mixed them with the junior stuff and he picked out all the junior and only ate those now he has just the adult and is pretty much refusing to eat them

Monkey is like that with every new food i try and give her. She’s suspicious of it all… I just keep shoving it at her face til she gets mad and bites at it to grab it and throw it… and then she gets a taste of it.
