Hi everyone! I was just wondering what everyone used to groom their rabbit with. I just recieved the “Rosewood Grooming Kit, Options” all the way from the UK (I live in the US) and I am so excided!

I used to groom my rabbits with the Furminator, but it’s kind of harsh and it makes the bunnies bald in certain places (when the areas weren’t shedding majorly). I tried the kit out yesterday and it’s really cool. I use the slicker brush on their bodies, for Rumpus’ fur main (he’s a lionhead mix, and he only has a really fluffy “main” just like a lion) I use the comb, and I use the soft brush to finish up their bodies and their heads.

I just use a basic small animal trimmer for their nails from Petsmart.

        What is your grooming procedure?

Basic nail trimmer from petsmart for nails, my hands mainly for fur, but Powder gets a human brush sometimes across his body.

The brushes I (actively) use are:
Safari Grooming Comb for Dogs: http://amzn.com/B0002AQUPM
            Hair Bean: http://amzn.com/B006J2I65Y
            FuRemover Duo: http://amzn.com/B00414ZLS2

How I groom Ox? Wait until he gets sleepy and brush as much of his body as I can before he starts throwing brushes around in rage. I also have to keep his beautiful jersey coat cut short (*SOB*) or else it’ll mat up as I can never brush him thoroughly before the brushes start flying around the cage. For his nails he has to go to the vets because he won’t let me near his feet. I touch his feet every. single. day. and he still acts the same way he did the first day I tried.

I do Brambles nails with the same type of clippers you get for cats and dogs as for a brush, I had just a soft brush for him because his hair was very short and he didn’t really need much more than that, however Bramble has recently decided not only to start changing colour but also to become a longer haired bunny so I have ordered a new brush from ebay which is supposed to help remove any loose hairs, it hasn’t arrived yet so I don’t know how good it is. I am lucky because although Bramble wont let me pick him up (the other half can with no problem) he will happily sit on my knee and let me pet or brush him for ages, he tolerates getting his nails done as long as I don’t take too long, its as if he gets bored after a while and just jumps off and hops away.

I usually have trouble with the nails. For Rumpus I usually put a treat on the ground, and sort of hold him between my knees while I cut so he is distracted with the treat.

For Mocha, I usually have to do 1 paw, them wait an hour to do the other.

I use the Zoom Groom by Kong made for cats. It’s saved my life! It makes Bun Bun’s so much softer and gets out a bunch of hair. I usually just hold him in my arms because he doesn’t mind being held, I think he likes it and it’s the only way he’ll stay still. I just brush him in circles since the Zoom Groom is basically a rubber curry comb and it does get on my clothes but I just use a lint roller to get it off. I use toenail clippers for his nails and he doesn’t like it but he tolerates it for me hehe. I lay him on my knees and I wrap a towel around him and pull out a paw and clip the nails then.
