There is a feed shop out here in Sonoma county that has terrible conditions for all their animals but especially their bunnies. Its 90 degrees today and the rabbits had no shade! some cages had water but the water bottles were green and filled with bacteria and the other half the cages had no water at all! NO WATER OR SHADE IN 90+ DEGREE HEAT! The rabbits were shaking and looked like they were a step away from dying of heat stroke I informed the workers who laughed at me and said they’re just rabbits. I started to get really mad and he said they might “scrounge up a water bottle or move them into cages that had a water bottle” the cages are SMALL and already house about 4 rabbits each. they have WIRE FLOORS. My heart was broken.

I called Sonoma County Animal Control and the lady said she’s out there once a week practically, I told her about the rabbits and she said  “Damn it we were out there on the 11th for the same issue”!!

How many visits does it take before they shut that place down!? I don’t understand how they possibly have new rabbits there every time i go by, they obviously are not taking care of them!

Not to mention their chickens/ducks/turkeys/cows/horses are all infected and look like they’re starving, all out in this heat standing in piles of their own waste.

I feel so helpless. is there anything else i can do!? Animal Control obviously can’t do anything if they’re out there once a week!

I’m tempted to steal them and drop them off at a shelter but they’ll just get more (and stealings immoral.. haha i just don’t want to support them by giving them money!)

What can I do? Just keep checking and calling?

          How frustrating!

Is Animal control part of local police? Or Humane Society?

I can only suggest getting in touch with some organizations that deal with this sort of thing regularly and ask advice. Ones who are well familiar with the legalities involved.

Hopefully your report will lead to some action. Sometimes it takes several reports before they can go in with a warrant.

If you are on Facebook, there’s some pages & groups you might be able to ask advice.
I found a few just from searching “Sonoma County Animal”

This sounds horrible! How could those workers see the suffering of animals under their care and not do anything?!?!

There are no game warden/rescue/official you can contact? Maybe they just need a few more complaints? If that’s the case, I’d call under a few different phones and leave your name anonymous each time. Now, for immediate help of the animals, I would bring in a jug of water and change their water. If the people don’t like it, tell them to back off or you will call officials or to back off or you’ll call me!!(or whatever you want)

If I lived close by, I’d be in there everyday bothering the workers to take better care of their animals. ~Sigh~ I hope that ALL of the animals will be out of that situation soon.

After the anger for the situation, I’m just really sad for the animals…

              Good luck!!!!!!!!

I’m right down the street from them so i’m going to keep stopping by every day! they may eventually have to kick me out but I don’t care. And thats a great idea to try to find other groups or people to call, some of my friends are calling in too after I told them what happened.
the workers are oblivious, i remember last year one of them was trying to convince me to buy one of the long haired rabbits he said “he’s going to die out here, I can tell.. he just won’t make it in this heat” and I was so distressed over it. I’m sure he did pass away =(
Facebook! yes what a great idea! thanks jersey girl!
hopefully we’ll get those bunnies rescued! thanks guys

Ug. That absolutely breaks my heart. Maybe if you notice it’s particularly hot you could freeze a bottle of water or two and leave it in their cage too help them try to stay cool… For what it’s worth I totally support the stealing of all the bunnies from horrible places like that.

He tried to make you buy a bun because he said it would die if you didn’t? That get’s me even madder at the situation! I don’t know what else to say!
