Happy December and Happy Holidays Everyone!
I’m surprised it’s almost a full week of December and there’s no picture thread started yet for this month
Since it’ll be Simba’s first Christmas, I have only been thinking of toys and treats and holiday decorations. But to make sure he’ll be EXTRA happy come Christmas day, I wanted to test out some of the treats first. Definitely on his wishlist will be the BunPop on OnceUponAPig’s YouTube channel ~ Simba loved it!
He only runs around with items in his mouth if he really likes it haha
Totally exhausted after he was done with it (and me as well after cleaning up the mess haha)
Also since my husband keeps procrastinating the construction of a second level we’ll be adding to his cage, I added a crafted paper box in the meantime…

Oh wow, Simba is a lucky bun, he must have been really good this year! He is too adorable with his BunPop! Nice job with the paper box, too.
Oscar has been battling sore hocks the last few days (it wasn’t too bad to begin with and now it’s much better), so I made some improvements to his cage in order to protect his widdly feets. Among other things, I put one of Lily’s old cat beds next to his litter box, it was just bare plastic before:
Sadly, it wasn’t well received…
I give him points for dragging it into the litter box before pooping on it, although I do feel like he just did it to mock me…

Simba’s a spoiled bun! I’ll have to look up this bunny pop. I need something to keep occupied for the next four days.
LOL Oscar is such a ham! He gets some major points from me as well.
Aw, Brevin is such a sweetheart with Sally and Harley.
That’s a beautiful tree and some handsome boys you have there. I’d love to see the pics if you get them done professionally.

It’s the first month of summer here, so Rufus has been hanging out in his cooling spot. Here he is in front of his bunny fan resting on his cooling mat with an ice bottle. So messy!

Me, Dave, my partner and Buddy started getting ready for Christmas this week. It’s our first Christmas with Bud so it’s extra special. Here’s Buddy helping me wrap presents:
Here’s my grumpy baby after mommy put a Santa hat on his head
Our bunny-proofed tree. It took ages to get it right, he found a way to get to it a few times so we had to redo it but it’s ok now. He got upset with it all yesterday and wouldn’t eat (I never thought the changes in the living room would matter to him that much) but after a few changes he’s happy again
All ready now, and in January we’ll start looking for a wife for Bud

Well I would like to introduce the newest member of the clan. She does not have a name yet so for now she is little girl.
She by the far the most social rabbit I have ever met. She goes crazy for some love. I never like to support the pet stores that treat these guys so bad but she was going to be put down because she hadn’t been adopted yet. She was too old at 8 wks. (WHAT?!) Thats fine I said. I got a home for her. And then they tell me well be careful cause she bites……-_- Held her for twenty min and she nipped me several times NIPPED! Shes a baby, of course she does that! O well shes home safe with me now.

Thanks Hazel! Hope Oscar’s sore hocks heal up ASAP! But that’s so funny that he dragged the cat bed into his litter box before pooping on it – he’s such a cutie!

He’s doing much better, although he doesn’t like all the cushiony stuff in his cage. He likes to lay on hard flooring.Christmas Buddy!!! How cute, how did he like wearing the hat? Of course any amount of bunny butt is worth such a great picture!
tanlover: Lacey is such a pretty girl! I read in the other thread that you think she’s a lionhead cross. So now that you have three Tans and three lions, I think you should get started on a trio of lops next.

njbunny- That’s so funny! Looks like Spot is the boss and your dog is his servant lol. Hazel- Oscar is adorable without ears, I wouldn’t be able to tell what kind of animal he was if I didn’t know he was a rabbit.
Tanlover, omg where do you find all these adorable lionheads? Lacey is such a beauty queen! I couldn’t help but think about adopting another one after you revealed your new furbaby, but the bf was like “No, don’t be a bunny lady.”

Nugget, there is nothing wrong with being a bunny lady! Can you believe I only meant to have one!?! Idk how I ended up with six. She really is gorgeous though. I walk around the house calling her beautiful one. Haha! I LOVE that castle! I got the buns their first Cottontail Cottage as a Christmas present so we’ll see how that one goes!

@TL, same. I never intended to have so many. Jersey was 1st and an impulse buy. Rumball was 2nd and planned.

I think you could slip Lacey in with the group and the friends you haven’t told about her might not even notice!
If they do, just tell them it’s mitosis and happens sometimes. Or spontaneous com-buns-tion or something. I’ve had 8 house guest buns here also over the year. Last year was worse! I can’t even remember when I’ve last had a human house guest. Lol!
Bun sitting does help keep me level-headed though. Gives insight on how things would be if had more permanent residents. I miss the ones I’ve had visit but happy to send them back to their happy homes at the same time.

Tanlover- Lol, he won’t admit that he’s a bunny man. Oddly enough, he was the one who went out to the pet store and brought Nugget home without even discussing it with me. I knew nothing about owning a house rabbit and never imagined myself having one as a pet, but now (almost a year later) I can’t imagine my life without one. It’s nice to hear about how you guys got started with rabbits and so funny to hear about who was planned and not planned. For a second, I wasn’t sure if you were talking about rabbits or babies lol.
Jerseygirl- Agreed, nobody would even know that Lacey was new in the group. Oh Alice looks so beautiful! That’s so great how you welcome new buns into your home and take care of them until you find a forever home for them, but it must be hard to say goodbye. I’m so inspired by you and would love to foster, but with my emotions and how attached I get to things, it would be really hard to do. Volunteering is the next best thing, if only Emilee knew I was helping out at her shelter… she’d be so proud of me =)

Nuggetbuns: The last picture of Emilee and Nugget is so adorable! I love Nugget’s expression, it’s like he can’t believe how lucky he is.
So Sweet.jerseygirl: Alice is stunning! It’s so nice of you to offer her a comfortable home for now. You should probably keep her though.

I made Lily a playhouse for Christmas. Or at least I’m making one. Right now it only has one small room and a tunnel, but there should be plenty more boxes to add on after Christmas.
The lighting in here sucks, so it’s hard to get a good picture that doesn’t give her demon eyes. At least she has a cute butt.

Santa came for the bunnies! CARDBOARD TUBES! Lot’s of them.
My grandma came over today with gifts and gave me a huge bag of them for the rabbits, also, we cut up the tubes from the wrapping paper, so the air conditioner box I have is almost full. I was like “I’m good for a LONG while.”

Nuggetbun – I believe I may have to craft our buns a castle like yours… That is too cute! Of course that may just be the buns occupying it as well.
Tan – A sixth?! You have the makings of the “crazy bunny lady starter pack” lol. Lacey is quite the cutey though! And besides, now your tans and your lionheads are even, 3 for 3.
Small update with our little trio, well not so small. We nearly lost Groucho this month. As many know he’s had chronic Pasteurella since shortly after we got him 3 1/2 years ago. Earlier this winter he developed head tilt, which I was lucky enough to notice within a few hours of him developing it and it very luckily cleared within a week. Early this month he stopped eating as much as he normally does, he’s usually a little cow. And when he refused his morning banana I knew something was drastically wrong. He started going through GI Stasis. He slept in the litter box and wouldn’t budge. I had some leftover Metoclopramide from the head tilt and the vet had me start him on that asap. Within a few days again he was back to his old self. But, the GI Stasis came back with a vengeance. He stopped eating completely over the span of just a night and had stopped pooping. When I went to bed he was ok, when I woke up, he wasn’t. I got him into the vet that afternoon and they got him some fluids and had me start him on critical care. They also weighed him. This time last year he was 2.7 pounds. When I took him in that day he was only 2. Since that visit a couple weeks ago he’s back up to 2.3, so we’re making progress. We had noticed he had lost weight, just not that much. But looking back at pictures from last year I feel sick that I didn’t notice that big of a difference sooner.
After he’s put on a little more weight our new vet, who has been amazing, is going after the Pasteurella aggressivly with some new antibiotics. She’s hopeful we can still kick this thing in the butt.
I also made them their very own Facebook page. So many friends ask me for updates and it seems I’m there more often than anything because of having a smart phone, it’s easier to keep everyone up to date.

Tan- That has to be a holiday card, your cute little fluffballs…
Binx- Oh poor Groucho, going through so much in such a short period of time! He sounds like a tough cookie though, hang in there! Hope the new year brings good health and happiness to you and your buns! I love how they’re all smooshed together in the last photo, cuteness overload!

Somekitty snuck into Oscar’s cage when I had my back turned. When I saw her in there I started panicking because I was sure he would lunge at her like he does with me. As I was about to yank her out of there I noticed they were getting along perfectly. No lunging, no biting, nothing. Figures.

You should, it’s fun to watch them figure it out. When Emilee first started playing, she would knock down the pegs instead of picking them up to find the treat underneath. But she’s figuring it out. There are 3 levels, but I haven’t done the last level yet because it’s easy for them to get TOO MANY treats. This toy makes them fat lol.
It’s so cute to see Oscar playing nice with your cat. Looks like he’s happy to have a roommate.
The buns got a late xmas gift from BinkyBunny last night… they are so spoiled, they don’t even know!

Wouldn’t do that for any of us, just the cat, who may have eaten him if given the chance. Good thing Oscar’s closer to her in size. My ex-boyfriend had a rabbit and a cat who absolutely loved each other

Oscar is pretty small, he weighs just under 3lbs. Lily is a tiny cat though, right at 7lbs. So you’re right, they aren’t as far apart as they could be, which is good. Although Lily takes on pretty much anything regardless of the size, yesterday she chased me through the house, and not in a fun way.
She’s very sweet with Oscar, though.Too bad your cat didn’t love your parakeet back, that would have been adorable.
How does your current birdie get along with Lily? I love her tiny ears, by the way, so cute! -
