I’m happy to say I have a little trio . Maple and Potamus have graciously accepted a boy bun into their room. The Gooseman (as I call him) and the girls have cohabited well the last 2 nights. Though messy and noisy! They’re not a tight trio but its too early to expect anything like that. We’ve all got some adjustments to make.

A bit of background: Gooseman (aka Ainsley) has been my foster rabbit for 18 months. I got him desexed in June (needed to be done regardless) and dallied with idea of trying him with the girls at some point. I hated the thought of his always having temporary status here. Though, I was still open to his being adopted if a perfect home came up for him in the meantime.
I would have a hard time giving him up after all this time but if it were to a home that would give him companionship I was limited to give, then this was better for him. And if he were to stay forever, I wanted him have bunny companions here.

So I’m very grateful to see how well they’ve intergrated so far.
Here’s a few pics I got today after a big clean up. Sorry for the quality.

I love the name Potamus. What pretty bunnies you have!

I’m glad things are working out and I hope everything continues to progress smoothly.

Yay! That’s so wonderful to hear and see! Beautiful bunnies!

Do you grow grass just for the buns? Not sure what kind of grass what is but the only grass my rabbits ever get is the lawn grass and I haven’t let them outside in a while. I can’t really pick any to bring inside because it’s always cut short. haha

If you grab some just as it’s about to be cut it’s usually long enough to cut some up for them.

No Amy, it just grows. Lol
There is some oat grass I’ve started but it didnt take off that well.

Rufus, its rye grass from very back of my yard. Got that, bromegrass and tons of sow thistle. The sun and rain combo has made it go mad.
The girls aren’t big veggie eaters but they’ll happily eat grass when offered.

LPT, I kind of went against the usual process. I mean, I let them meet in neutral space a few times before but didnt really dedicate time to continuing that.

Last week, I set up Goosemans pen in the girls room. I figured it would give him company and they could adjust to him. They were curious and not overly put out.
Then after a few days I opened his pen. He ran around in their space and they went to investigate his.

                                Lots of marking etc etc.
Because the girls were so preoccupied with his area, they didnt take exception to his being in their territory. (Potamus would usually get a bit precious about their cardboard hide-out).

I did this a couple more times during the week. One day while I hung out with them, they shared space for about 4+ hours. The next time longer.
                                Then overnight.

The girls still startle easily by him because he’s a little boisterous but they’re acclimatizing. I’ve seen both laying relaxed next to him or grooming him. He’s quasi-groomed them some. Lol.

I really need to work on getting some better photos. These look out of focus to me.

Jerz, I don’t remember if you said, does the rye grow naturally or did you have to seed it?
That looks much like our hayseed on a good year, sadly this was not a bountiful summer.

If we get some land when we move I want to plant something that will grow fast that the buns can eat, instead of store bought veggies.

I can’t believe your luck! What a wonderful and easy bond you have there! Usually two females will be difficult with a male added, but I guess since Potamus and Maple are mum and baby, that was a plus to the match.

Fuzzy or not, I love the pictures…but you can twist my arm and make me look at some more!

It grows naturally. We get it here toward end of winter.

Another thing I’m enjoying is I’m able to see these 3 regularly as I walk past the room. Before, Ains was in a separate room more tucked away.

                                    Thanks everyone : )

I think my brain might have shorted when I posted my comment. haha I have been under a lot of stress lately with Freddy being sick.

I completely forgot I could take some grass for them right before it was going to be cut xD

That rye grass looks heavenly, though. I wonder if I can get some here to plant for my rabbits. hmmmm
