As some of you know, I have two rabbits. A 6 year old Mini rex and a 5 year old Rex.

Today I adopted a 8 year old (EXTREMELY shy cat) who would have gone to the shelter otherwise. My family is not that ethusiastic about it. (All but my mom didn’t know about it until I brought her home). Does anyone have tips on how to keep this combination running smoothly with rabbits and a cat. The cat will probably stay mainly in my room (currently she’s hiding in a corner and won’t come out).

Also, do I need to worry about disease or something from handling cat stuff then handling rabbit stuff?

Introduce the cat by putting the bunny in a cage and letting the cat near. If they get on well, it is ok to let them associate, but it is recommended to never leave a cat, even a well behaved one, unattended with a rabbit. I don’t know about the whole cross contaminating thing, mabye some other member will give some info. Good luck!

It sounds like she’ll benefit from some TLC. Do you know her history?

I’ve no experience with Cats & Buns but hope some of the info here helps.
