Well… I guess I’ll kick off the picture thread. 

I did some composite pictures for my baby, not so much babies anymore, bunnies! 

Helo:

Litte Helo in this pic is 8 weeks old, big Helo is 25 weeks old (5.7 months)

Inara:

Little Inara is 7 weeks old, big Inara is 24 weeks old (5.5 months)

Oscar is growing so fast! He weighs 1.5 lbs right now, but he’s already a little bigger than when we got him. We took a few pictures to show his size, so we can compare when he’s all grown up.

And again, a flop. This is how he spends at least 50% of his time.

Awe! Helo and inara are all grown up! I heard females are normally larger than males. Can’t wait to see more pics! I can’t get much of Harley and Sally currently. They are being brats currently. I think throwing this puppy into the mix has really affected their house manners. Tearing wallpaper off my walls, constant humping. Plus I need Brevin to get over the excitement of the bunnies before they can be free run. He, for some reason, doesn’t pay much mind to Harley. But he is having lots of fun chasing Sally around. Sally doesn’t run from him she just hops in a circle until he tires out and she will sometimes even do a quick 180 and be nose to,nose with Brevin when he approaches her. But I’d prefer Brevin to not do this at all in fear he’ll one day nip her nose with his needle teeth trying to play lol

My boyfriend and I were studying for a quiz last night when all of a sudden I heard snoring coming from my bed. Mimosa was incredibly curious and stopped munching on his hay to come check things out. This is what ensued.

Merida is currently adjusting to a new living room setup, and making sure that I know how she feels about it- twice today I’ve found a small pile of poo just outside of her litterbox. And her habits are usually impeccable. I’ll have to get some pictures of her on the couch, which is the new Great Exploration Endeavor. Under the last setup she was effectively blocked from it, but I’m hoping now she’ll cuddle on the couch with me and the boyfriend during evening TV time. I’d like to not have to keep choosing between human company on the comfy couch and rabbit company on the floor lol.

I completely agree, Dwarf sparrow, thanks so much! My boyfriend actually slept through everything up until Mimosa went up to sniff my boyfriend’s face. My boyfriend woke up startled. Both guys freaked out. Mimosa bolted off my bed, and my boyfriend laughed then fell right back asleep

Woohoo August is here!

MD i Love the style of picture you created there. Your two babies have grown up SO much! How much do they even weigh now?

Hazel it looks as though Oscar is settling in well, congratulations on your new addition to the family!

Buttons and Suri have grown SO much. They will be 6 months on the 4th! Time goes so so quick. Suri has hit 4lbs and Buttons 3.5lbs. The vet thinks that they will reach 6lbs by the time they are fully grown

Here are some recent pictures of them in the garden, England is experiancing some AMAZING weather atm so I’m letting the bunnies binky to their hearts content at the cost of all the garden plants…..

Suri munching her way through the flower pots! They found a way in my mini greenhouse and ate everything on the first floor! So much for an eco drive!

Buttons’ new found hobbie is sneaking up to Charlie and pouncing on his tail. Charlie doesnt often find this amusing

Luckily I’ve kept them both entertained (and therefore distracted from terrorising the poor cat) by teaching them to ‘Say Please’ and ‘Go Around’. They also got spoilt with lots of new toys this month!

Bpash – such a cutie. Simba has recognized the crumpling sound of his pellet bag and runs toward me once my hand goes in to scoop some out for his bowl!
Baxter and Boo are both adorable – I want to get a stuffed animal for Simba too, but I wasn’t sure what type were safe if he chews on it…
RabbitPam – I find it hilarious when they’re munching and the food just disappears without them moving anything but their little mouth!

hannaroo: Thank you! He’s settling in wonderfully. Our cat Lily still isn’t quite happy with him, but at least she doesn’t want to have him for dinner anymore (or at least that’s what she wants us to believe).

Suri is stunning and Buttons is just too cute! They are lucky buns, being able to enjoy your backyard and you even allow them to eat your plants! I hope they know how spoiled they are!

mijOok: Oscar turned 10 weeks old yesterday, but that’s just going by what the rescue told us, we don’t know his real date of birth. That’s actually Hubby holding him in the picture, in my hands he would look slightly larger I guess. You’re right though, pictures don’t show how tiny baby bunnies really are!

Simba’s set up looks great, I bet he’s very happy in there! He looks so sweet, I wanna cuddle him!

I love the photos of bunnies eating and sleeping, so cute! Of course I also love photos of bunnies just sitting, hopping, or staring off in space as well…. hehe!

Alvin’s feet are getting better. He has one week of medication left to go, then I have to take him back to the vets so they can double check to make sure the mites are gone for good this time.

I’m in the process of fixing up Alvin’s new cage. I’m sure he’d much prefer it over being in the bathroom all the time. My dad bought some blue paint for it so I was putting the first coat of paint on it. I ended up with paint all over my left hand because I slipped and had to grab hold of the side of the cage. I tried washing it off and it wouldn’t come off! And it was still sticky and my fingers were sticking together. So I told my dad and he said, “well, it’s waterproof paint…” I ended up pouring paint thinner on my hands to get it off. Took a bit but it came off in the end!

 So Marley and Freddy are bonded.  =) I just sent the adoption application and fee to the rescue and will be taking Freddy for a vet visit on Wednesday. =) They really love each other and I am so happy Marley found a friend.  He is so happy with him.  Rascal and Valentine are doing well as well.

I decided that tomorrow I am going to let the buns out to play. I think both buns are comfortable with Brevin now.

I first had them meet through the bars of the cage. Brevin didn’t really do much when they came up to sniff him. 

 

We will see how tomorrow’s play time goes. The previous time Brevin kept trying to chase Sally. So I wanted to give him and the buns a few more days to get aquainted so the buns won’t be so new to Brevin and so Brevin wouldn’t be so new to the buns. And they don’t flinch at the sight of him and Brevin walks by their cage multiple times a day to eat and drink and doesn’t pay them as much mind so we shall see! I miss my buns hanging out with me in the livingroom every morning

 I saw this beauty today in a pet shop where I get Buddy’s pellets and some of his hay. My partner had to drag me away from him/her, if I was there on my own, I would have bought this sweetie but, to be honest, with all the trouble I have with Bud, I can’t really look after a baby.Shame.  I so hope someone who really loves rabbits will buy him/her, love the wonky ears. I just can’t stop thinking about the poor thing…

Dwarf Sparrow- Sprinkles’ eyes are closer to grey now, with one side of the iris being more blue and the other side a dark grey with a big brown spot in the ring. It’s a little weird! (Come to think of it, I guess I should ask the vet about that). Anyway his name is Dr. Sprinkles because we felt that he should be classy and refined, the little story we have for him is that he got his PhD in Psychology (he’s a therapist).. however, a lot of the people at work kept mentioning ‘rabbit stew’ when I got him so I started saying “He’s got a PhD in kicking your ***!” to make them knock it off. Soo… his PhD is in whatever we choose at the moment. Hay nibbling sounds good

Also, Merida is simply adorable! She looks like a very exploratory bunny!

This was 2 hours of Bromley and Gypsy curled up on my lap grooming each other and grooming me. Chance also got groomed when he joined in, but he didn’t stay the full 2 hours.

Valkyrie: Your pets being friends is wonderful! I wish our cat and bunny were so sweet to each other. You have to tell me how you did it! Gypsy is beautiful by the way, it’s so cute how hers and Bromley’s colors match.

Hazel: A big part of it is that they all grew up together and I started introductions early (although years of practice also helps). Chance is the oldest of the 3 at 2 years old. He was 10 weeks old when I got him and I introduced him to Merlin (my recently deceased bun in my avatar pic) right away. Mer was still pretty unsure of dogs, but with some sniffs through the cage and then a few kisses they were friends in no time. Gypsy was 9 weeks old when I got her last Summer and Chance fell in love with her right away! I watched all interactions when she was still tiny, but Chance is just a very gentle boy and even when she would get too rough with him he would just bark at her and walk away. I also kept lots of treats on hand to reward him for his good interactions. They are pretty much inseparable, but Chance goes to my parent’s house while I am at work during the day so in the evening they do nothing but play and then curl up and sleep together. Bromley was 7 weeks when I got him on St. Patty’s day this year and he has been the challenge. Because he was so tiny, I had to watch that Gypsy and Chance didn’t get too rough. I still have to watch because he isn’t as durable as the other two. Chance has pretty much gotten the idea, but we are still working on him not bolting up when Brom climbs on his back; don’t want him falling and hurting himself. We are working on that by holding Chance in place and telling him “easy” when Brom climbs on him. I make him stay like that for about 10 seconds before I shoo Brom off. And Gypsy sometimes get kitten crazy and wants to play fight like she does with Chance so I just have to tell her no.

I also really believe in the animals taking it at their own pace instead of me trying to make a timeline. When I first got Brom, I kept his cage at about Chance’s eye level. Chance wanted to make friends right away, but I would make him stay away from the cage. After two days, Brom was settled in so I let Chance go over to the cage whenever he wanted and only called him away if Brom ran to hide in his igloo. Once Brom started going to meet him at the cage door, I opened it so they could sniff and lick. After that I put Brom on my lap and let Chance lay beside us.

My other cat, Twitchy, isn’t such a success. I got her as an adult after she was saved from the farm where her owners abandoned her. She got her name because she was so twitchy and timid when she adopted me. She usually ignores the rabbits, but every now and then she will run up to them, sniff, and then do that scared/confused open mouth cat thing and just look at me. Its hilarious, but weird. I had Merlin already when she came along, but she has just never figured bunnies out and I have had her since 2009. I had to watch when Brom was a baby too because he looked too much like the presents she leaves at the door. She also likes to practice what we call the Paw of God. She is the alpha in the house and if one of the other pets annoys her she just has to lift her paw and they run away. If they don’t stop, she slaps them. Funny enough though she never uses her claws and she never alternates paws; she just uses one. But every now and then she will get in a mood and walk up to Chance and Gypsy and just slap them up. I will scold her, but I have to hold back the laughter when my 70 lbs dog is looking down on her with hurt feelings thinking “what did I do?!” Don’t get me wrong, I have had other adult rescues which embraced the multi-species home, but it is harder when they have had to hunt for their food or had other animals try to hunt them.

Valkyrie: Wow, thanks for your detailed reply! I guess young animals have an easier time getting used to each other, when we got Lily as a kitten she got along with our dog right away. Although our dog was already 12 years old she had no trouble adjusting, but she’s just very easy going in general. She is great with Oscar too, the “new” wore off after 2 days, now she barely pays him any attention.

Being a Siamese, Lily is quite high strung, and doesn’t do well with change. To give you an example, she threw a fit one time just because we got a new shower head. What kind of cat even NOTICES that kind of thing?! So she’s still getting used to Oscar but she seems to steadily improve.

I had to laugh at your Twitchy keeping everyone in line, sounds like she’s a strict but (mostly) fair queen.

Ah yes those Siamese are funny! My aunt bred them and the slightest change would upset them and they would poop everywhere! My friend recently adopted a 12 year old Siamese after her owner passed away. My friend has had Persians her whole life so this is quite the adjustment for her! She keeps texting me asking if things are normal lol.

And yes Twitchy is very regal! Her tag even says “Princess Twitchy” because she sure acts like one!

Hazel – that video brings tears to my eyes! I can’t get over how incredibly happy I am for you!! And your little Oscar as he seems to be one VERY VERY happy bunny. Every time I see him on here, I’m just so glad you finally found him!
And those photos of Oscar and Lilly…. I just about DIED! They look absolutely HYSTERICAL together. We all know your Lilly very well by now – I think it’s interesting how different she seems to be with Oscar when she has always been so adverse to change in the past. I love it!

You guys talking about your Siamese cats makes me think of my Bengal I used to have! His name was Momo and he was the most temperamental thing I had ever freaking met! He was such a brat but was best buds with my ferret, Leonard. Momo would get SO angry if I left him overnight by himself. I literally got three noise ordinances from him… If you’ve never heard a Bengal meow, feel very lucky. It’s a horrid, horrid sound.

My foster Starsky is moulting…. BIG TIME… and of course he has picked the week there is an adoption application and the people are trying to decide out of three buns (one being Starsky)

Been plucking like mad but so far have only cleared his face and a big patch down the middle of his back… His Spring coat is going to be soooo beautiful. All the little flecks of colour in the fur underneath. Plus it’s going to be super glossy.

He is in the running with Binky and Ollie also rescued from the Wanneroo Pound after being found roaming the streets. The good thing is they are in a large apartment and want a bun totally trained for indoors with good litter habits and a talent for mischief.

I actually have the opposite problem with my glass bottles, they won’t stop leaking! I’ve tried buying new ones from different companies, but the same thing would eventually happen. Come to think of it, I wonder if Merlin was somehow sabotaging them…?

tanlover: Thank you! I’m so happy to have him! Honestly I would have taken any available rabbit at this point but Oscar is so much more than I hoped for. He’s so happy and outgoing, he binkies constantly when we let him out. He’s just a joy to watch! Perfect litter habits, just the right amount of lazy, I could go on and on.

You had a Bengal?? That’s awesome, I love them, they’re stunning! What color was Momo? I’d love to see a picture! It’s funny that you mentioned him being friends with your ferret, when Lily was younger and liked to play pretty rough, we used to joke about getting her a ferret as a buddy, since they love to roughhouse, too. And I totally know what you mean about the noise, if we still lived in our apartment I’m sure we’d be getting a lot of complaints from the neighbours, as well.

I’m lucky, he never ever makes a mess of the bed or anywhere really. Is it weird I have the only rabbit who has never ever gone to the toilet outside of his cage? He’s 95% litter trained but even the other 5% is within about 20cm from the litterbox.

He has a shaved spot on his ear from being desexed a week and a bit ago. They put a drip in a vein on his ear. Should have mentioned that! Now that I look it does look very weird.

And don’t let the innocent act fool you, he’s just thinking about what trouble he’s going to get in next.

 Wow I have been busy training Brevin the past two weeks! I will add that Brevin has taken to the buns and the buns have accepted him into their little clique. He hangs out with them more so than Abbie! He actually loves Harley for some reason. And it’s only Harley that he loves. He doesn’t pay as much mind to Sally and I’m not too sure why *shrugs* but he follows Harley around the entire time he is out. I even caught him resting his head on Harley’s bum when they were laying on the vent together. I didn’t catch it on camera though But I will be better prepared next time. 

My husband fell asleep on the floor and the buns didn’t approve. He was in the way of them doing binkies and zoomies! 

Disregard the leg, he was asleep lol. Sally and Brevin chilling on the ac vent. What puppy likes cold air!? I’m glad Sally isn’t afraid of him anymore…

And then there’s these two. Brevn follows Harley around everywhere! He is licking Harley’s ears right here lol

No one really knows his breed anymore. He’s a mystery. The vet advised us on getting a DNA test for him. She recommended one online because its alot cheaper and she used it on her dog. But his body parts are kinda all over the place and disproportionate and people can’t seem to pick out a dominant breed for him. We call him our Heinz 57 some people have said shih tzu mix, spaniel mix, corgi mix, chow mix, collie mix, sheltie mix, and dachshund mix lol so your guess is as good as anyone! Lol

Yeah I’ve heard corgi and dachshund because he stands really low and long. We call him our low rider lol I really don’t think he is chow though. He has no black on his tongue and he’s quite tiny!

Rufus: Merlin had perfect litter habits up until his last month of life; and I never blamed him for that. And he wasn’t a chewer either. He only chewed one thing in his entire life and I blame my husband for that. He was playing video games and Merlin was trying desperately trying to get his attention. He was nudging him and binkying in front of him but Spike was so involved in that game! Finally Mer got fed up, stood up and bit right through the cord for the controller! I could not stop laughing!!! When I brought Bromley home it suddenly hit me that I didn’t have a perfect bun anymore and would have to train him! It had been 5 years since I had to do that and I was like “what have I gotten myself into!” lol

NBO: Gotta love mystery pups! Chance is one of those too. You will find that as he grows, you keep changing your theories. Since Chance was 10 weeks old we have guessed Pitty, Shepherd, Lab, Border Collie, Cattle Dog, Catahoula all at different times.

Simba is so precious!!!! I was thinking of getting another lop this time around, but it didn’t work out that way.
I actually have the opposite problem with my glass bottles, they won’t stop leaking! I’ve tried buying new ones from different companies, but the same thing would eventually happen. Come to think of it, I wonder if Merlin was somehow sabotaging them…?

I’d much rather the leaking problem because it worries me so much while I’m at work that he’ll get dehydrated if his bottle stops working again. I’m leaving him a bowl of water too, but the sole reason I switched to getting a bottle was because Simba gets the water dirty with his fur and sometimes runs into his bowl when he runs around his cage too excitedly.

Rufus – that’s funny – we both have an odd ball bunny… my Simba has NEVER had an accident either. When he’s out cuddling with you, he will nip your arm to let you know he has to go back in to go to the bathroom, so we always take him back and he goes right to the bathroom and then comes back out! Haha! He puts every single pellet in his litter box also! It’s so awesome. I wish he would teach the others the same manners!

She came with the name Professor, but we decided to give her a name matched to Bromley so she is Odette now (Odie for short). We thought Odie was also fitting due to her big ears. Sometimes we call her Professor Odie as well.

As some of you know, I’ve been trying to get Lily and Oscar to get along. First Lily wanted to eat him, then she settled for being disgusted by his presence and wasn’t willing to stay in the same room with him for more than a minute (unless I had treats). Today she actually hung around when I let him out, so I got a folded up blanket that I know Oscar loves to play on and put it next to her, hoping to get a picture of them together. For a while nothing happened whatsoever. Then, out of nowhere, Lily decided it was time to blow my mind:

Hazel: YAY!!!!! Didn’t that just fill your heart with joy? I was so happy the first time Gypsy groomed one of my buns (she licks her people and fursiblings just as much as the dog so I guess I shouldn’t have been suprised). Whenever Twitchy does it though I can’t help but wonder if she is tasting…

LongEaredLions: I love that picture! My aunt and my best friend both posted it on my FB because it reminded them of me.

Bromley figured out how to get up on the cat post with Gypsy.

He also likes to hide among butts. He will lay low and then suddenly pop his head up like he is playing peek-a-boo. In this picture it is my husband and Chance’s butts. Poor Chance was trying to sleep but Brom kept climbing on his butt.

I tried introducing the buns to one another on Saturday, but Odie isn’t comfortable enough with her surroundings yet. She just hid under the bird stand and ran into Bromley’s cage when he tried to introduce himself. They did pretty much ignore each other for an hour before that and Brom didn’t care when she ran into his cage so there is no territorial issues, Brom just preferred playing with the cats in the tubes than hunting her down. When I put Odie away, Brom eventually ended up climbing up beside her cage and they sniffed eachother through the bars a lot. He would go off to play with the cat for awhile and then hop up to see her again. Hopefully tonight I will get the oomph to rearrange the cages and put Odie and Brom side by side.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted a bit of Ox spam. I’ve been enjoying everyone’s photos though! We definitely have the cutest buns on this forum.

Anyway, these were taken the other night.

 

Tribble was having a snooze and Ox decided to come lay behind her. A little while later she stretched out and ended up using Ox as a foot rest. Lol. I’m pretty sure the picture above sums up Tribble and Ox’s relationship.

Ox was displeased with being used as a foot rest so he decided to move, but he left a little gift of disapproval.

I can’t believe it’s been three weeks with Simba already! As my husband says to all our friends when they come over… “it’s bunny stuff everywhere” Tried a whole bunch of stuff this weekend – it’s supposed to get warm by Labor Day so I tried out the frozen water bottle and ceramic tiles, also set up a supervised play space right outside his cage (he loved it but now he gets toooo excited to come out of his cage… even when I’m just trying to refill his dish w/out the area set up outside!).

 I was watching tv and I kept hearing a whole bunch of rustling in the hay. I kept thinking one of the buns was just using the litter box. After about 5 minutes of constant rustling I noticed a missing puppy… I walked in and Brevin was playing in their hay! I was so mad, but had to catch a picture of the memory as he will never get to go in there again. That’s their space and not his so he got in big big trouble for being in their litterbox. I hope he learns quickly that this space is off limits…

Ahahaha that made me giggle so much! My rabbits are so cute 99% of the time but as soon as they open their mouths to yawn I swear they look terriyingly hideous. Those two look like such a sweet couple though!
