Hello fellow rabbit lovers. I’m currently fostering a bun and I’m not quite sure what she is. She is probably, I would guess… 5 to 6 lbs. Has upright ears, and blue hair. She doesn’t have the satin fur like a mini rex, but has hair like my netherland. I will try to get pictures of her when the light is nice. Any ideas?

Had to share a joy moment too. When I got her, her poops were so tiny and black, and now that she is on fresh timothy and timothy pellets, her poops are close to normal AND she is already starting to use the litter box after 3 days. Happy foster mommy!

Under the photos tab and the bunny buddies category, my girl looks exactly like the second to last picture on the first page of the black and white bun and the blue bun. My girl looks like the blue.

The rabbit I can find that matches your description is the Havana, but she’s more likely to be a cross breed. Yay! for the improvement in eating  Can you give me any information on her history? Because blue Havanas are very rare, especially outside of the US

I unfortunately don’t know a lot about her. All I know is the first gal who had her, had housing difficulties so she couldn’t keep her and gave her to her daughter. The daughter didn’t know what to do with her. Friends of mine are her neighbors and knew I have a bun and asked if I wanted her. I told them know at first and then found out the poor thing was just sitting in a cat carrier on the front porch and the daughter was saying she may just let her go in a feild because she didn’t know what else to do with her. To which my wonderful, charming husband said “I don’t think so. Bring her home”. I’ve never seen a bun more happy to have space to run. I got her home and set up the x-pen and she runs around me so happily.  I could possibly ask my friends to ask the gal where she got her. Her temperment is wonderful for not being spayed. All she wants is to cuddle and be loved and kissed and “oh, you’re just the greatest bun in the world”. Haha

I will try to get some pictures tonight or tomorrow of her and get them posted. Darn work gets in the way.

hmmmm, where in the world are you? I don’t think that they would’ve paid thousands just to let her go in a field. Well done! looking forward to the pics, if she was a pet shop bunny ( which she probably was ) she might be a pure breed, just not show standard.

We’re in Oregon. I doubt she is pure breed. A lot of people go to the co-op and buy bunnies in the spring and they’re mainly mixed breeds. She has a little bit of brown mixed in her nose. But her shape does look like a havana. Not that I’m an expert on judging breeds at all, but I can’t think of anything else because of the size she is. I took a quick picture this morning, but I’m thinking I’ll have to wait for my hubby to get home and help me load it on to any external link for viewing.

Ok, she might be part havana, part something else. The co op? Sorry, we have a shop with the same name in the uk, but it sells fairtrade food and stuff .

More than likely she is a mix, with very pretty coloring

She looks a lot like my girl, Ashe. Ashe is a Mini Rex mixed breed of some kind. So pretty much she is a mutt She was sold as a Mini Rex but her fur does not stand straight out like velvet so I’m pretty sure she’s mixed. I may post a pick of her if I can figure it out

                              I think she’s a lilac or havanna.

Great picture, I’m not sure if she’s part havana any more, too dark. The body shape and the ears make me think of a netherland dwarf, maybe she’s crossed with a larger rabbit? She’s very cute, it’s a better picture than I normally get, half my bunny pictures are of noses and bunnies hopping away

Hehe. She was so curious about the camera and every time the speed light went off, she would turn her ears. It was so funny. Thank you for all your help. My husband gave me the official ok to keep her, so I’m a failed foster mommy now. Haha. After she is spayed, I’m going to try to bond her and my netherland. Wish me luck! Haha.

Very pretty! Lilacs and Havanas are pretty rare breeds, so although I definitely agree that she resembles the pictures, I doubt that she is either – more likely a beautiful blue mixed-breed rabbit. Really, the vast majority of pet rabbits are indeterminable mixed breeds, but adorable ones nonetheless .
