Ok, here is the weird situation. Cinnamon and Raven have started eating their litter box. this is the second time I have to replace their litter box. Has anyone else had an issue like this? I give them chew toys like I am suppose to… just confused and worried that they are going to get sick.

I agree with Sleepy. What is their litter box made of? I know I’ve seen photos of it…Is it a plastic cat litter box? Do you know if anything changed in their environment that could cause them to eat it? Are they bored? Is there not enough hay in it? If you’re really worried about their digestion of the material. Maybe switching to one of the biodegradable cat litter boxes would be better. At least till you figure out why they’re doing it. At least this way they’re not eating plastic and its a material close to cardboard.

It is a plastic Cat box, as for hay I give them fresh hay every day. it is possible that they are getting bored they are VERY high strung and full of energy. I will try to see if I can get them some new toys or something to get them some more things to explore. I am thinking of just switching to cardboard boxes for now.

You might be able to pop their current litter boxes into a cardboard box that comes up bit taller on the sides.. So they can’t get to the edges of the plastic one. Or putting it in a wooden caddy type thing.

With chew toys, they seem to like hefty items that don’t move around (At my house it’s the door trims ). Possibly be why these 2 are going for the litterbox.

They might like something like the Activity Zone toy.

You can also try a distracting Willow Tent, or willow tube or even get a maze haven for them to play in. The willow I mentioned are large, and healthy to eat, so if they chew on those and find them tasty, it could be more fun and rewarding than chewing on the plastic. I would try toys or this change first before switching to cardboard only. They will definitely chew the cardboard and soaking through it with litter and pee will just make it very hard to clean and stay together.

Bring them out for some romping exercise, too. The maze haven might be good for that, or a Cottontail Cottage where they can climb up and down.

Thank you for all your advice. I will try to get them one of those play condos and try to get some more fun activities for them to play.
