I have been using wood pellets as litter for my buns and just bought some more. I noticed that the ones I bought are douglas fir wood pellets this time. I know that soft woods are not good for buns. Would it still be okay to use these as litter since my buns have a litter tray and a litter box that they do not touch? Or should I avoid overall since the smell would harm them even if they are not in direct contact with the wood pellets?

        Thanks!

They’re fine. The way wood stove pellets are made burns off the harmful phenols.

They aren’t good chemicals for people to breathe in either, so to be burned in a home those chemicals have to be processed out first, if that makes sense.
