My poor baby got startled so bad that she ran herself into her pen bars and got her head stuck (her eyes were squished a little)!! My dad cut the bars and she was relatively calm the entire time, we got her out but then she just curled herself up and sat in the corner of the cage. We opened the pen up and took most of her things out (she broke her water dish) she sat for about 10 minuets her eyelid skin thing got pretty red, but now she ran out of her cage and came into the computer room with me and is now laying down behind me. What happened? Is something going to happen to her? I don’t know!!! Im just freaking out here!!!

Well thought sounds very scarey! I’ve had buns get startled & run into things, but never to the point where they got stuck. Definitely allow her some “chill time” and let her be alone. It’s important after a startle that the bun gets reaquainted w/ things/people again on their schedule. You should do a thorough check and make sure that she suffered no injuries. take care

Keep an eye on her eating and pooping, to make sure she didn’t scare herself into Stasis or something. Poor baby girl!! My buns loves lots of love after being spooked. Maybe talk to her and give her more pets, if she is coming up to you. (If not, I agree with the previous poster on leaving her be) I would watch for any change in behavior, like an obsession over that eye or not hopping the same, to see if an unseen injury needs to be treated.

Well as of now she has yet to leave the computer room. She ate a couple treats (I shook the bag and she came up to me like normal) then she went back to sitting around and now she’s up exploring a little like she normally does. I’ll just watch her. Now that her pen is destroyed she’ll have to move into the guest room sooner then I thought.

It’s impossible to really know what happened – you got some very good advice from the above posters as well about what to watch for (especially that eye). Hopefully all will be fine with her.

aww I am so sorry, just take a breath and try to recover yourself!! then just keep an eye on her like the others said. I am sure she will be ok after a bit.

I’m concerned about any subtle injury physically. I want to recommend you get her checked out by your vet, even though the others are smart to say just keep a close watch on her first. It’s the eye and the head squish that bothers me the most. Sounds like she is comforted by your presence, which is good.
