        Hello folks

I’m interested in using a Rubber Horse Stall Mat for the base of the cage I’m building but I’m worried about the smell and chewing effects of vulcanized rubber on a bunny. People have used the product in kennels and in their houses dogs, but I’m not sure how it will be for bunnies. Anyone have any first hand experience with the material?

I use a horse stall mat in our pen (5 months now) and have not had any issues… That rubbery smell went away after a couple days & my buns haven’t chewed on it… it’s easy to clean & it’s cushiony for big buns hocks… imp I think it works great. My only complaint is it’s heavy so I need the bf’s help to move it.

Also… each my buns have a throw rug that lies on top of it & their litterboxes are on a shoe dirt tray to catch the litter so that covers a section on the mat. I also keep sheets of cardboard on the floor of the pen cause my buns (esp. Hunny) loves to dig at & tear up the card board.
