So Rascal loves to put things in his water dish…Whether it’s his willow ball or plastic balls it doesn’t matter he will put it in there.  Why does he do this and is it possible to get him to stop or just keep taking it out when he does it?  lol  I think lately he is doing it more when I separate him and Valentine after their bonding session.  Maybe it’s because he is mad?  He really loves Valentine but Valentine needs more time.  So a couple more weeks and we’ll see how they do in Rascals territory.

Anyone else have buns that put things in their water bowls?

I don’t know why rabbits do this, but they think it’s alot of fun. I’m not really entirely sure if it’s really purposeful to tell you the truth – it may be that they are just moving things around and it ends up in there.

He might not be intentionally doing it, could he be just throwing toys around? Maybe if you move where the dish is it might help?

Yes! Mine do that too! I’ve found several of their toys in their dish on different occasions. I think it just happens when they’re playing and tossing things around, like sarita said. It’s funny, but kind of a pain too, isn’t it?

I think it’s quite entertaining but at the same time I get worried about metals from bells going in his water. I don’t want him to get poisoned.

I will move his water dish, maybe it will help.

Bindi does this when he’s mad at me. He throws his toys in his water dish. It’s like he knows that I will have to change the water after. Brats.

My rabbits do the same as Bindi, whenever I haven’t been able to spend much time with them or I’m moving something that they don’t appreciate they throw whatever is biggest/heaviest into the dish and spill water everywhere… giving me the bunny glare the whole time

HA! My bun was grooming her new stuffed elephant and when it wouldn’t groom her back she picked him up and tossed him in her water dish.

I think it’s hilarious when they do this, although yes, sometimes they put things in they shouldn’t. Like bells or metal toys. Also sometimes my rabbits drop their treat (like a baby carrot) in the water and give me this puzzled look! Or they drag hay in there (I say, are you trying to be Rachael Ray and making HAY SOUP?!).

One of my bunnies who went to the RBB a long time ago, when my parents were still alive too, Mom and I were in the bunny room (of course there was a bunny room at “Grandma & Grandpa’s”!) and Annie looked at me & Mom, picked up her toy, plunked it in her dish, and looked back at us as if to say “Didja see THAT?”
