12.43 Cyclonic gusts of wind and i thought ” Gee that must be what the people in yesterdays Tornadoes meant by – the wind sounded like a freight train”- 12.45 loud tearing ripping sound and my entire lounge ceiling peels away in one piece collapsing into the living area. Luckily the cats moved and none got caught. The buns are out the back and but for the grace of the Goddess I would have been in the room but had gone back out to check the laundry.

The ceiling blocking access to the interior rooms and leaning on the TV Cabinet. State Emergency Services had already taken the ornaments off the top.

The space I crawled through to get to the bedroom to check the cats. I didn’t see Jebediah till 5 hrs later.

One of my ceiling lights between the lounge and whats left of the coffee table.

After the worst of the debris was cleared. Took us 3 hours fro there to clear out the rest. Some is salvageable some isnt. That grey stuff is the ceiling insulation. Its in everything.

Oh my gosh! I’m glad everyone is okay. How scary and what a mess. I hope you can get the damage mitigated quickly.

Thank goodness no one was hurt. How scary… So what is your next step from here, just clean up and patch it or… wow. Seems like a huge job.

Sparkie came out today and made the wiring safe and gave me back my lights. The roof tiles are intact but I will be without a ceiling for about 3 weeks. Don’t know when I’ll see the insurance assessor.

Patching isn’t going to work. The entire ceiling exploded out in one entire piece because of the pressure in the roof cavity. The gusts caused a vacuum in the cavity when the air rushed back in the roof puffed up like a balloon and then the ceiling blew in.

Hi Wendy, Made the channel 9 news and WA Today web news. Insurance assessor was out yesterday so things are moving along and I should have a ceiling again by July. Still trying to figure out exactly what was lost and what wasn’t as some things were broken and removed by SES or family who didn’t tell me what they found plus there still a huge pile of stuff on the front patio I have to sort through but with the storms continuing its been too wet to try. Other things got swept up in the piles of insulation so I am only just discovering bits and pieces that seem to be AWOL. Just wish the rain would stop so I can start washing the dust out of everything.

Oh WOW!! Oh my gosh-you and those pets are so lucky!! My goodness!! How upsetting though! I hate to ask-but have you found out if your insurance is going to cover this? I can’t imagine the expense. *hugs*

Spoke to the assessor yesterday, from what I can gather they are not even asking for quotes. They are just finding a day to book in there builders and will go ahead and start. I probably will never know the actual cost of the structural stuff and they are giving me a cash payment toward repairing and replacing sundries. So far so good.

                                      Yikes Roberta!
Goodness, I’m glad to read everyone was okay.

I’m out of the loop. I had no idea WA (Aus) was going thru a battering.

Sending good recovery {{{vibes}}} your way.
