I want to buy Stickers a little bench / sofa / lounge chair. whatever looks safe and is cheapest. But I can’t find anything under $100 that would work! Argh.

So I was thinking maybe building one… what type of wood would you guys suggest?

If you have an ikea near you I’ve seen they had a little doll bed for kids to play with. Its called “Duktig”
          http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10101664/

of course they don’t ship online though. I want it >.>

Hmm.. stay away from redwood-toxic! I would use pine.
In some places they have this little store called” Grandview weekend outlet.”
My grandmaw lives near one, and in the back is little benches and chairs etc.
            It’s really nice, and cheap!

Target has these different size square wicker storage bins that I use for Bobby. I just turn them over so the bottom is the top and stair step them up and he likes to set on top of the larger one. I like them because they have traction for him in that they are textured wicker or seagrass. I don’t think any of my rabbits would use a bed/bench/lounge per se like those ones they make for dogs/cats/guinea pigs but I know they like the kitty condos as well that they can hop on top and inside.

Stickers like chairs, couches, etc. I was thinking more like the ones they make for humans, not animals. She loves to jump up on stuff and hang out – right now she has a plastic storage bin in her room and she’s always jumping on it (it’s for her food). lol Thanks for the tip on the wicker baskets, I will look around.

Bobby also likes to hop on top of the ottoman that goes to my chair – so maybe a good deal on an ottoman at a consignment store might work.

Unfortunately I live in the middle of nowhere so the only places that sell furniture are wal-mart, some expensive furniture store that is simply over priced and rooms to go. There is a flea market but the hours it is open doesn’t work, since boyfriend is at work at that time and I don’t have a car.

If I did build, would pine lumber have the same oil/scent issues that pine shavings do and cause respiratory issues?

If you live by an Ikea they have pine wood storage units that are small and can be used as a small bunny bench, or you can make one like the one I made! I used a table saw and a band saw to make it, and then a small carpet rug ($4.99) from Ikea for the top and it happened to fit perfectly. It’s my rabbits favorite hangout when not stuffing their faces!

Sorry for the poopy mess! From my experience lops never quite learn stellar potty manners -_-

No, pine wood fine. It won’t cause problems. Make sure to buy untreated wood. And NO redwood. It’s toxic to rabbits if ingested.

                          Ok, thanks all.

I know treated is bad, there is lots of untreated wood at home depot. That bench looks nice, Honeys. Something like that, but with maybe stepping levels would be fun for her.

I took a look at the cat condos and the cheapest one in town is $80! Gah. lol And it was just basically a carpeted box of wood. I should make cat toys and sell them, i’d make a fortune

                            You really “wood”

Ok but yah, I spent $10 bucks on a bag of 6 cat balls…

And a cat scratch stand is about 40 bucks…

I got my wood at home depot, they have a lot of unfinished pine project wood with nice grain, so it only cost $12 to make that bench (not including the power tools!) And my design is to make those boxes at different heights so that they can hop up and down the different levels! Bunnies like to climb alot more then I realized!
