I picked Wooly up this morning to groom him. As usual, he wasn’t happy about it and let me know by grunting at me. I sat him in my lap like I usually do and started brushing him. After awhile, he settled down and then did something he’s never done before. I was lifting the fluff up on his butt and brushing it all out. What did Wooly do? He started licking my arm! He was just licking away like a little maniac, it was so cute! Then he nibbled (not a mean nibble, I think he was just trying to groom me) and I said “ow”. He stopped and looked up at me. I said he was a good boy and then he started licking again! What a sweetie!

I’m not sure if he was grooming me to be nice or if it was some sort of a reflex because I was brushing a certain spot. It sure was adorable though. I wish Leopold was that sweet.

Haha if it was near his bum it was probably a reflex I have a video posted of Samson doing the same thing funny bunnies.

Samson was grooming you while you were grooming her? Isn’t that funny? I suppose it was probably a reflex. Although I have groomed his rear end many many times and this is the first time he’s ever done this. He has sat in my lap and sucked on my shirt though. I wasn’t doing anything to him. I had actually been grooming him, but then my mom called and he was just sitting in my lap. For some reason he decided my shirt was tasty or something.

He liked it. You found a feels-good spot. If he licked and then nipped, it usually means he’s starting to get a little excited. Making a noise to stop the bite was just the right way to communicate that you wanted him to be gentle. He did that. This is nice for you both.

Believe me, I wouldn’t want Leopold to get excited while I’m grooming him. Wooly nibbles, Leopold chomps. Wooly has always been a good boy and he listens to me when I tell him “no”. It was really sweet when he looked up at me when I said “ow”. I knew he understood. I just wish things could be the same with Leopold. I started another thread to talk about this, how to communicate with him better.
Anyway, I’m glad Wooly liked where I was brushing him since he’s usually upset any time I groom him. I always worry the brush is pulling too much, so I’m always trying to be really careful.
